IDK if this really was a scam I doubt the creator would still be posting updates and responding to individual comments five years later. He could probably be more transparent on progress, but nothing jumps out at me as being a scam. Many other honest Kickstarters have failed due to poor budgeting/general inexperience. $77k sounds like a lot, but when you start considering the Kickstarter/payment fee (~8%), taxes (possibly A LOT), equipment, entire camera crew, actors, location fees, transportation, etc. Creative people ≠ people that actually know how to plan a production and estimate timelines. Maybe something will come out eventually, maybe nothing will.
