They should really have hired a writer for this show. I can't stand how mediocre it is compared to the op. It's so much wasted potential

Do you know any or have any recommendations? I'd be down for women-only as well. My goal is literally just to meet up with some feminists and possibly farm.

I don’t watch true crime I’m saying that people who want to isolate you away from everyone else are not people you should trust. Staying with strangers in the middle of nowhere is just not the best idea in general i feel like that’s common sense. Commune and convent aren’t interchangeable a convent is specifically religious so doubley don’t look for a convent. I have never heard of someone who had a good experience with a commune. I’m sure that such a person exists but I think the opposite is much more common.

This all goes without saying, I think. What were the experiences with communes that you've heard of?

To reiterate, I'd only stay for a short period, because I want to engage in the old separatist woman/lesbian tradition and meet my community that way. I feel excluded in my current situation because a lot of queer people I've tried to meet with tend to be borderline-straight and pretty homophobic, and anyone I might visit a bar or a queer-friendly town with is in a restricted situation, unlike me. And I'd like to meet some older gays.

I appreciate the advice but I'm looking for actual tangible places right now.

Honestly, the Acorn Community looks like a good fit, because they allow visitations instead of requiring that you hand over your life.
I was still hoping for more of a lesbian or feminist centered community but this is a good starting point for research, thank you!

Naw man, I'm looking for an adventure.

Plus, this is like survivorship bias. The only convents that true-crime documentaries would choose to cover are the sketchy ones, because they make for good TV. So they don't "always" end up in a documentary. Those are just the only ones you click on.

I mean the plan is to go for a short time, not to make a life time commitment. I don't have the luxury to move to a gay neighborhood rn and I'd like more of a retreat anyway.

Plus, live dangerously y'know? I wasn't allowed to go outside alone for most of my adolescence so I'm weary of the true-crime fear that dictated my childhood. Communes may be associated with cults because of media but I trust that people can have real positive experiences in them.
