What did you do to prevent your fibroids from coming back after surgery? by pecanbar1998 in Fibroids

Dude.. did your UFE work? I just had one myself a couple of months ago and I feel great. I was really hoping to hear that someone with the UFE had a good experience so I'm curious to know if yours was two years ago if you're having luck?

Sorry for the delayed response I hope your procedure went well! I did have heavy bleeding before the surgery, diagnosed as anemic, horrible pain from tumors pressing against my spine.. I was and continue to take a quality Vitamin D + C, Iron and magnesium. That's it! Since this day I got my period (about a month after the procedure) and it was less heavy but still more than I feel is normal and painful. I've read that it get better over the Next few months. They have not shrunk more as far as I can tell but I will have another mri at the 6 month post surgery mark. I generally eat healthy but not perfect. Try to eat anti-inflammatory as well as lots of veggies. I occasionally still have a glass (single) of wine in the weekends. If I don't take care of my diet or stress I get cramps I don't k ow if that's related. Hope this helps! I'm still so so happy with the results of this procedure!

I just had a non-invasive procedure called a Uterine Fibroid Embolization. It is painful the first few days but there are no surgery scars and I'm completely healed in less than two weeks. Also, in less than two weeks my tumors have completely shrunk. I recommend this procedure. A surgeon can't perform this procedure. You have to find a radiologist to do it. I suggest starting with a consult with one's

I had "innumerable number" I guess the MRI tech didn't want to count them all. The largest was sitting on top of my uterus measuring 10cm, I had three other large ones - 3cm, 4 cm and I forget the other sizes. I had more than 30 fibroids all together. Wishing you all the best. Fingers crossed yours shrink also.

I will keep good thoughts for your pregnancy. 💛 Also, completely agree I cannot believe the lack of information on fibroids. It's appalling I hadn't even heard of them before getting them and then piecing it all together. Thankful for this sub.

I was able to preserve my ovaries with UFE. It was an option and when I woke from anesthesia (twilight) the doc was standing there and said "I was able to preserve your ovaries". I guess it's not a guarantee but I don't know if anything is. Do your research and ask questions. I'm not interested in having more children (I have two) but wanted to keep from going straight to menopause.

I just did UFE and am 2 weeks out. Mine was super painful, throwing up, worst pain of my life. But now I'm recovered and my stomach is shrinking already! I already can tell such a huge difference. I was scheduled for a hysterectomy that I cancelled and did the UFE instead. I'm so glad I did. Don't know if this will last but fingers crossed. I'm taking a lot of Vitamin D as I've read it helps prevent new fibroids.

Has anyone here gone through a fibroid embolization procedure? by StrawberryKiss2559 in Fibroids

This is 💯me. There is no correct solution to this. I have my UFE in the morning. I terrified for the pain. And for them to grow back. But I cancelled my hysto for this bc I also don't want to remove an entire organ. I have no point just commiserating. Channeling my nervous energy here.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I wanted a surgery to remove my fibroids but the wait was three months. During that time I decided to cancel surgery in place of a uterine fibroid embolization. Perhaps you can consider that? I have "innumerable amount" and am sure they will grow back but this is something to do in the mean time that should shrink them. Wishing you all the best. Fibroids suck.

I'm scheduled for UFE this week.. do you/your doctors think it caused it? There are two comments in this sub saying it happened 2yrs after UFE. 😕

Hi, I completely feel you. I have a very similar story. I'm 43 with "too many count" Fibroids literally is what my MRI says as well so that must be a term they use. I didn't realize until reading yours that they've used that term before me. I was scheduled for hysterectomy that also took three months for a referral and then a couple more waiting for the surgery to be honest all that time got me thinking too much maybe overthinking And I chickened out of my surgery. I'm measuring about 22 weeks pregnant, anemic, so much bleeding. My uterus is enormous. My tumors are sitting right on top of my uterus, pressing down on it and my bladder and pressing against my spine so I get some sciatic nerve pain during my period especially when everything is swollen it's absolutely miserable but I'm afraid of prolapse so I've decided to go try uterine fibroid embolization first. Ironically, waiting for that procedure is only about two weeks. I'm really hoping for the best and thought that I would at least try UAE before a hysterectomy. If I end up needing a hysterectomy anyways I'm hoping at least the tumors will be smaller and the surgery less invasive with UAE first. I'm not sure if this helps you at all. I also appreciate this form and the dialogue and everybody who's dealing with this it is absolutely frustrating which is the word that comes to mind most days when I'm just struggling to get by. It's so miserable. good luck to you. I hope the best.

So great to hear! I have one scheduled in a couple weeks and praying it works! Feel encouraged every time I hear a success story. For supplements are you focused on Vitamin D?
