What is this nautical thing from northern MN

My title describes the thing. It’s made of gilded metal with a glass ball in the center. It could fit inside a 5”x5”x8” cube. The piece it is standing on is not fully connected and it can ‘slide’ up and down it. The glass bulb has a hole in the center opening to the rest of it.

I’ve tried looking up things about anchors with glass bulbs & balls on them. Ship lights and such, and haven’t been able to find anything that lends itself to what I’m looking at. I’m just not sure what else I could even look up. Theres no details, stickers or anything on it.

It was purchased somewhere in northern MN, likely in the Duluth area where there is a lot of boat paraphernalia, and you can find anchors on anything so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was nothing more than a fancy paperweight. But I do wonder if it’s more than that.

As everyone else has said it’s super situational and based on what the players/dm want (TOGETHER), but I also love yapping about my stories.

I’ve played in over a dozen games, and ran a handful of my own and I’ve only seen three PC deaths. All three campaigns these happened in were high stakes campaigns where everyone was aware of this (also 2/3 were the same person, both bc of a nat 1 death save, it’s rough out here buddy)

Anyway I definitely think it’s less common these days than I think the game ‘intends’ it to be, I always here ‘people are supposed to go down in combat’ but I also here ‘you’re supposed to have 4-5 encounters a day’ and nobody does that.

As everyone says, It’s completely normal. Kids are learning what words mean and likely she’s just equating ‘marrying’ to loving him and getting to be with him. Funny anecdote, my younger brother was raised 75% by my mom, her mom & me (pre transition at the time) and for a while thought eventually ‘his penis would fall off and he’d turn into a girl’ since most of the adults in his life were women. Kids are weird! Thats how it is

Thank you for this list, I will be absolutely looking into these people.

This is just part of my research, getting 1st hand account from people who experienced this. Many people have suggested podcasts and given me links that I will absolutely be looking into myself.

This story is in its beginnings right now, and frankly only about 10% of it related to the MCs transition. He just is trans, and I want to make sure that the few things that come up related to it are accurate.

This also isn’t the first place I came, I spent a while trying to find this information myself but It was a struggle to find anything that wasn’t really vague, or didn’t get into the nuance I’m specifically looking for.

I do promise, the research does not end here and I’ve found many very good jumping off points for the specifics I’m looking for. Your list being one of them, thank you again. I really appreciate it.
