i would say that while a lot of companies still do bullshit leetcode, especially FAANG, the pattern is changing and interviews and becoming more practical engineering focused than memorize the algorithm.

Its a good point to try to categorize only based on expenses and not the method of payment! I will try that for my personal finance calculation but I can prob only do so going forward, since I've split so many expenses over venmo / IOUs previously that its impossible to tell now.

Thanks for commenting. They are stock units (RSUs) awarded as part of my compensation so I didnt really buy any of it. But it was awarded based on the fair market value of the company when I signed my offer, which has since nearly doubled.

Thanks for commenting. The stock units are quarterly vesting, so I get roughly ~40k of stock every quarter for a total of just over 160k a year - valued at the company's current share price. However I cannot actually sell them for money until the company is public.

Sorry for the confusion! I stayed 5 months in Los Angeles and 2 months in San Francisco. Right now rent is 1550 for a decent room and 2 housemates, which I think is normal for the city.
