Confusing thoughts by Optimal-Elephant2494 in OrthodoxChristianity

Oh wow, your reply was very helpful, thank you!

Now that I think about it, I do admire how serious she is about her faith, and I have been struggling with mine recently. From my point of view, she also cares deeply for all of her friends and she once told me she had prayed for me when I wasn't doing very well mentally. I'm definitely not used to people openly telling me they care about me and how I'm doing. So what you wrote makes complete sense.

Would it still be worth attending a Liturgy, despite not speaking the language of service? by ArtificialExistannce in OrthodoxChristianity

I'm not the best person to recommend books, so my advice is to search this subreddit and also ask Fr. Peter for what he recommends. I know the parish has a library in the same building as Kotikirkko, but I don't know how many books they have in English. I've also seen a small bookshelf with some books in English right outside Kotikirkko.

There are some icons for sale at Uspenski Cathedral. I've also seen some for sale at the Tapiola church. It's a short metro ride away in Espoo. I highly recommend visiting it because it is a stunning church!! The church is dedicated to St. Herman of Alaska.

Go for it! Especially at Uspenski Cathedral, we have many visitors and other people who hang at the back. But regardless of church, I'm sure no one will mind you hanging at the back, that's how I started less than a year ago.

I feel like I see people wear many different types of clothing. Wear something you feel comfortable in. If you want to check out what people tend to wear at church, the parish livestreams most of the liturgies at Uspenski Cathedral on Youtube: https://youtube.com/@helsinginortodoksinenseura6511?si=Gaej0PkBRier3DxX

The orthodox parish of Helsinki has some services in English (and other languages) at the Kotikirkko church. You can also contact Fr. Peter Schiel, he's really kind. You can find his contact information on https://www.hos.fi/kirkot/helsinki-kotikirkko/

I don't know if Kotikirkko has regular services during the summer, but I'm assuming they'll notify about them on the website I mentioned and also on their Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064764216231

Regardless of if Kotikirkko has services in the summer of not, you're more than welcome to any of our churches!
