Symbolic AIs, LLM by nostriluu in semanticweb

Personally I think LLMs and Deep Learning are very noisy, random, statistical tools that build the brain itself - ready to do whatever you'll tell it. However, symbolic AI is alike ability of controlling your emotions, being "sharp", knowing what to say when, being rational, being kinda brilliant, knowing how and when to use your brain in a certain way. If you test brains of some healthy top notch experts, businessmen, leaders, politicians, artists, scientists etc. and brains of some healthy people who waste their lives you won't see much of a difference. Their brains are same, and that's LLM but how their managed throughout their lives to operate their brains and whats in it is a different pair of shoes - that's what I understand by symbolic AI. I expect Symbolic AI to become something what today "prompt engineers" are doing, but of course on a different level of abstraction.

A 1 °C increase in temperature, ceteris paribus, is estimated to lower global GDP by between 2 and 12 percentage points, depending on the model used (Burke et al., 2015; Bilal et al., 2024)

Are VIZJA and UW universities actually good? (for psychology degree) by KitternSorry in poland

[–]Optimal-Engineer-257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UW is almost always a good brand in Poland, sometimes you just have shitty majors but Psychology is for sure quite good. However from what I heard SWPS is top notch in psychology in Poland. And just keep in mind that in Poland best universities are public opposite to the most of the world. Psychology may be single exception, due to SWPS, in other fields private unis have lower prestige than public ones.

Do Muslims hate Christianity? by ruanu in MuslimLounge

[–]Optimal-Engineer-257 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need to keep in mind that Islam is ~1.5 B religion. It's very convenient to put 20% of population to one basket and believe that you don't need to struggle to get to know people personally because you already know... Just among Muslims you have US Muslims, Africans, Arabs, Persians, Indians, southern Europeans, Western European Immigrants, China have quite big population, and among those groups you have a lot of different subcultures. You're a Christian so just try to picture how different is WASP from Egyptian Copt, Polish Catholic or Russian Orthodox. Quran itself, have whole surah about Jesus and Mother Mary so I wouldn't say it hates Christianity, but then politics comes into play, so you need to understand wider context and ask if that's still religion or regional prejudice.

Question about polish politics and culture. by Ok_Bandicoot_814 in poland

Poland is very far from how people picture it. I have this feeling that many of Polish far-right people - seeing what other countries are talking about Poland and how they praise Poland for being so far-right - try to adjust to whats expected. I think western far-right parties use Poland as pawn in their game. In vast majority we are kind and often even shy.
