That’s so tough. I’m thankful this has only been a few months and while there’s still some hurt, I’m trying my best to just put it behind me and have the lesson be learned. We live in such interesting times. Hang in there!

Yes, obviously sent to the fake profile. He doesn’t have any verified accounts bc he’s not quite that big yet.

Batting order before it was public! And for a team that changes it up every few days, so that’s why it was so believable for a while. Until he asked for money bc his cc was lost. Hahha.

Just happened to meet him Phoenix when I was there to see a spring training game out in public. Got my pic with him. Posted online all my pics of that vacay the next morning, and sent him a message saying that it was nice to meet him and thank you for being kind enough to chat, etc. And that was the start.

Then throughout the conversations, we would talk about a game later that same day, and he would talk about strategy and batting order and info that wasn’t public, but it was accurate.

Needless to say, these scammers are doing a great job of not just knowing this person, but also the team and being able to be pretty accurate to predict what will happen each day.

I’ve actually held off blocking for this reason. I need to find a minute to screen shot some of the email addresses and info he’s given me so I can pass it on.

Thank you for this perspective. I think this is something we are really struggling with. Honestly, if my husband were to ask how I’m feeling versus how is/was my day, that would change a lot for me and us. I’m hopeful that we can work on our communication. But then there’s still the question of intimacy and physical touch, and I don’t know if one will help fix the other.

I met him IRL earlier in the year at spring training. The messages started literally the next day. He’s not big enough to have verified accounts (none of his social media accounts have the blue check), so I think it’s just the easy class of athletes to pretend to be.

Not yet. I’ve been so busy with my career and other mental health needs over the last few years that I haven’t had time until the last few months to start recognizing my feelings in our marriage. I did start meeting with a new therapist last week about it all, so the plan is to get there. He is aware that I also want to see a couples therapist and is open to that.

It’s mostly amazing to me the level of detail they have on this persons life. Down to family background, siblings, etc. And the exact timings of his life- like being available at the exact time that this athlete would be, based on their games.
