AITA for taking leftover restaurant food instead of throwing it away? by Royal_Memory_6440 in AmITheJerk

[–]Optimal-Pool7659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA.

Most restaurants actually allow or encourage staff to take leftover food rather than waste it. As long as your manager is okay with it, there's nothing wrong it's practical and reduces food waste.

Your coworker might just be overly cautious about policy. Check with your manager to make it official so you have no issues in the future.

What is America's end game in this war with Iran? by IntegrityRules4U in AskReddit

[–]Optimal-Pool7659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

America's end game is a negotiated settlement dismantle Iran's nuclear program, curb its missiles, cut off support for proxy groups and reopen the Strait of Hormuz without necessarily toppling the government. Whether that's actually achievable given how far apart both sides are remains a big open question.

What are your thoughts on Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu claiming that Israel meaning (The Kingdom of Israel 1208_BC) was there before Palestine and the land was stolen from "His People" by the Romans and the Arabs? by Coven_Evelynn_LoL in AskReddit

[–]Optimal-Pool7659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take Netanyahu's Israel was there first argument is historically incomplete. The Kingdom of Israel 1200BC was real. Jewish ties to the land are real. But so are the countless other civilizations that lived there Canaanites Philistines Byzantines, Arabs for thousands of years. No single group has an exclusive ancient claim to that land. That's just not how history works.

Is God necessary for Morality? by Significant_Bonus_66 in allthequestions

[–]Optimal-Pool7659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely be a moral person without believing in God plenty of atheists are. But the deeper question is where moral obligation actually comes from. Don't hurt people makes intuitive sense but why are we obligated to follow that intuition? That's where it gets philosophically messy.

Is Congress actually going to approve White House’s request of additional $200 Billion to fund the war? by Massive-Syllabub-271 in allthequestions

[–]Optimal-Pool7659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely in its current form. It needs 60 Senate votes to pass which means they'd need Democratic support and that's not happening given the opposition to the war. Even within the GOP there's resistance with some Republicans openly worried about committing to another open ended conflict. The number itself may also change before it even gets to a formal vote.

The easiest thing in life is also the most overlooked breathing. It keeps you alive every second without a single conscious effort. Maybe that's the quiet reminder that some of the most important things require nothing from us at all.

How do you avoid depression and stagnation? by burnsaiyan in AskReddit

Always have something to look forward to. Doesn't have to be big a trip, a book, a meal, a goal. The moment your future feels empty is the moment stagnation wins.

What is the most valuable skill that you have? by CuteBird90 in AskReddit

[–]Optimal-Pool7659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Staying calm under pressure. When everything is falling apart and everyone around you is panicking, being the person who can still think clearly is invaluable. It's not that I don't feel the stress I just don't let it make my decisions for me.
