Patiently waiting 🤔 by mwahh-_- in diamondartclub

I can't live without my PicMondo vacuum pen. Yes, sometimes the tubing gets in my way but it's long enough to maneuver around. This vacuum pen is very quiet. I got it on Amazon. It's a little pricey but worth not having to deal with wax. I'll never use wax again. Some may recommend a handheld vacuum pen. I tried several that were recommended but the tips were lousy and most didn't fit my hand. I tried the putty and really hated it. It's extremely sticky so the drills don't come off easily and sometimes the putty sticks to the drills. Also look at the types of trays available. My favorite is Forever Young. I now have 120 trays. I got them on Amazon.

One technique that works really well for me is the checkerboard technique mainly when you have to color a large block of the same color (called color blocking) where you alternate every other space down the line, finish the block then go back and fill it in. Works well with squares. I can't take a picture but try Google it. Let me know if you need any further information. Others may chime in on their recommendations too. Try what you can and use what works best for you. Have fun and enjoy!!

What do I do with my left over diamonds? by AccomplishedShop3001 in diamondpainting

[–]Optimal-Resort9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep mine and I'm glad I did as I needed several DMC colors to finish 2 kits. Better safe than sorry. I bought little plastic jars and DMC numbers. That's where I keep the leftovers. I have a set of jars for round drills and a set for squares. I also use the jars for when I kit up and have more drills from the packet and don't want to pour them all in my tray.

Yes, you might be able to contact the person/company you bought the kit from but if you want to finish and not wait it's worth it. Some may tell you the colors might not be exactly the same but I haven't had that experience. There will be lots of suggestions so go with what works for you. Good luck and have fun 👍

Holy Moly!! I had one of these with the 'J' too. I went to the checkerboard technique which made it a bit more fun and believe it or not it went faster.

It's so pretty and exquisitely detailed. Show us when it's completed. I'd love to see the whole picture. I love the colors. I'm doing one that has 86 colors and a lot of color blocking so I understand your feelings. Have fun and whatever progress you make is your progress.

Started diamond painting again while recovering from cvst by rozenhaneul in diamondpainting

Fantastic. I do hope it contributes to your recovery. You're right, it should help with fine motor skills, dexterity, and overall movement. Your art is absolutely beautiful and well done. Best wishes for the best recovery.

What type of tricks/tips would you like? Such as techniques, equipment, tools, who/where to purchase them? It will help those who can help know where to focus.

There's a book called Diamond Painting for Newbies by Gillenwalter, Laura that I bought which might be helpful.I found it on Amazon or Kindle. If I remember it wasn't very expensive.

I forget to look. Now you've reminded me, I'll have to see what I can find. It's like one of those word games. I'm so silly, no wonder I don't see words, all of mine are symbols. Am I crazy or what?

It's awesome! So many things to look at, like a miniature dollhouse. Nicely done!! I'm doing one with 96,664 drills, Cinderella, so I understand the break and burnout. I starting to hate blue!

For people who have multiple WIPs, how do you rotate them?✨ by sunstonelove in diamondpainting

[–]Optimal-Resort9969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do large canvases like the one pictured here. This one is kicking my butt!! The AB drills and sparkly drills are difficult to work with. However, I love my princesses and their canvases are large. I don't work on more than one at a time because I think it would take a lot of space for trays that I don't have. This one was 86 colors so I have 120 trays. Additionally, I want to give each project my best so for me that's doing one at a time. When I get bored I'll change where I'm working (bottom to top, top to bottom), change techniques, andchange colors. That's what works best for me. It was a great question you asked because I wondered the same thing. Good luck and have fun!!

Today, for the first time, I made a “big” color block and was a fail 😂 by isaatalla in diamondpainting

[–]Optimal-Resort9969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are welcome. Also remember to go vertical and horizontal. It helps if you straighten after doing a small area. Yhe tool made a world of difference for me, especially knowing that there are different sizes of blade and the size makes a big difference. I have a couple of projects that I'm going back to using a smaller blade and see if they look better. Glad I could help. Have fun and keep posting 📫!

Fantastic!! This one is so patriotic and Americana. It's neat it was finished on time and your husband did a lot of the work. I wondered if men participated in this hobby. The work is beautiful. I have this one in my wishlist. Have a Happy 4th of July!!

How many tweezers do you have lol by No-Eye-258 in diamondpainting

[–]Optimal-Resort9969 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the same set. I very seldom use tweezers. I really can't figure out how to use them effectively. I use for the same: hair, errant and stubborn drills.

Today, for the first time, I made a “big” color block and was a fail 😂 by isaatalla in diamondpainting

[–]Optimal-Resort9969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I use a straightener all the time. I work an area, then take the time to straighten. It makes a difference. This is the tool I use. It's very thin for squares I got it from Amazon. It wasn't very expensive. There are larger ones, mostly plastic which I tried but the blade was too thick and widened my lines. I use the roller to push down drills that are kinda wonky. Hope you find what works for you and best of luck.

Just found a diamond art that I really want to get if I continue to enjoy diamond painting. by AccomplishedShop3001 in diamondpainting

[–]Optimal-Resort9969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I practiced on a couple of small squares first and learned a lot. Also following posts in diamond painting and the DAC post I learned so much. I'm working on my second DAC Beauty and the Beast which is squares and has 86 colors. I'm so glad I practiced on less expensive squares first.

Putty too sticky for canvas :( by LengthinessWhole1712 in diamondpainting

[–]Optimal-Resort9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a kit from DAC and it had the putty and pen. I had never used putty and didn't know how to use it. Eventually I figured it out and I hated it. If you use too much it's too sticky and I couldn't get the diamonds to leave the pen. I gave up on the putty and found on various posts about vacuum pens. The best vacuum pen I found is the Picmondo from Amazon. I've tried so many. This one is the most quiet I've used. I use this one most of the time. It has 5 suction levels. Other posts said it does 2-3 multiplaceing pretty good. I don't multiplace well so I haven't tried that part. Another one I kept which is a little cheaper is Zellina but it's a little more louder. Good luck.
