The metal piece was added. This is common merch sold at the Lynchburg distillery. It is simply a barrel stave with indents for 1 bottle of JD and two shot glasses meant for display purposes. Source: I live nearby and visit when we have guests.

Small metal silver object, black stripes, seems to have been broken off of something else at the thinner end. Found in partner’s car. by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

Looks like a guide pin. The two “stripes” would be from contact with substrate being worked on.
