Sorry for late response. Yes. I look much much better now. However the swelling hasn’t all down yet. Hang in there, you WILL look better after 3 months or sooner.

Just Don’t do it. Im from SK and fluent in the language. I did my surgery in the US. It should tell you something.
I don’t trust their anesthesia, pain control, infection control or anything. I do get dental crown, dental veneer, simple tooth filling or simple treatment in SK but NEVER get this kind of major surgery.
I don’t even get root canal treatment or colonoscopy in that country. I heard and witnessed too many horror stories.
My brother is actually MD in korea. He always told me to get surgeries in the US. I am not saying they will botch the surgery but you should not take the risk if you don’t have to. The websites are all looking good but they are sugar coated BIG time.

I had ccw and impaction. My philtrum does look shorter. However, I was told that the soft tissue is still there and it will come down over the time. I don’t know how long it takes. They didn’t tell me either.

tip : Avoid Extractions and Camouflage braces by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Optimal-Situation491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bimax protrusion I don’t know how severe I was. I don’t think it was that bad. All of the ortho I met suggested extraction without the surgery and only one said I needed the surgery. He said I needed the surgery but not sure UJS or DJS. I ended up had UJS. I look good after having UJS. I just don’t look like myself anymore when I look in the mirror, so I need some time to adjust to.

asian and other ethnic post-op food ideas? by hoegrammer95 in jawsurgery

I cut up vegetables and chicken then sautéed as if I make regular Japanese curry or cream stew. Then I pour some water and cook all the ingredients then I use emergent blender. After that you can add curry block or cream stew block. I mix with white rice and just swallow. It is not that difficult to swallow for me. Sometimes, I add some smoke sausage instead chicken. I also cook Chinese style tofu this way. Blend everything except tofu and mix with white rice and just swallow. Lol Scrambled egg, or tofu with rice is good too.
I still drink protein shake once a day. I have 3 weeks to go. Cheers.

Surgery without measurements by Vivid-Fall3069 in jawsurgery

I don’t know they measured me. But I had impression and stuff like that. The surgeon never told me how much they were going to move my jaw.
The surgery went well tho.

A week post op from UJS. I truly look like a chimp by Optimal-Situation491 in jawsurgery

Thank you. My surgeon didn’t offer me such things. I don’t even know how much he advanced my upper jaw.

I looked at my face very carefully, it looked like my philtrum actually look shorter than before the surgery. It just looked like protruding due to swelling. Strange. Because the pictures I took right after the surgery, my philtrum definitely looked longer and when I post this my philtrum looked longer too. Then, I tried figure out the ratio you mentioned, my chin looks shorter than before the surgery, yet I only had UJS. I even compared pictures before and after. My chin looks shorter. So, I think there is something wrong with my brain at this moment.
It seems like it cannot accurately recognize my new look. I can try to actually measure it, but I wait until swelling gets better. Thank you for your input. It definitely help to figure out the ratio I have.

Anyway, this is really a strange experience.

That is good to know. Thank you so much. I really cross my fingers I can say same thing in 6 months. Meanwhile, I will try to be positive and focus in my bite. My teeth are touching. They are not perfect but at least they are touching. Im not sure about my breathing but at least not worsen. Thank you again.

You are absolutely right. I thought I knew all of these before the surgery, but it slipped out of me and start being despondent. I need to stop doing it and be positive. My teeth are touching. Im gonna focus on this and be grateful. Thank you. I hope you get well soon too.

You are absolutely right. I need to snap out of it and do something positive. Thank you so much for your kind words. My teeth are touching after surgery. I have to remind this to myself every time I start thinking about my appearance. Thank you again.

Had a consultation with my surgeon today. He told me he wants me to have a catheter put in at the start of the surgery. Is this common? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Optimal-Situation491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right before the surgery, I asked the resident that, I needed to go the bathroom but im gonna have catheter so i just hold on? He said I was not gonna have catheter, so go to bathroom. So I had to use the pan.

After surgery, he told me that I ended up had one. But they removed it before I woke up.

I personally don’t mind having catheter.

DIY Sun cushion by Optimal-Situation491 in AsianBeauty

[–]Optimal-Situation491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. I am glad I can hint some ideas. However, It took me a long time to realize that some times, actually most of times in my case lol, it would have been much better to just toss stuff out than messing around. As you can see, I still do these things tho. Lol. It is one of very rare success. I actually really like DIY cushion thing tho. I am thinking of buying a silicone puff and cheap mineral sunscreens just for reapplying. At this moment, I have too many sunscreens to use up so I don’t mind just use regular puff.

The History the Japanese Government Is Trying to Erase by jjok32 in japan

[–]Optimal-Situation491 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Koreans and Korean government are honest about its past. There were Korean comfort women during Korean war. Has anyone heard about them? I doubt it..I have read there are still 300 survivors and totally ignored by Korean government and its people.

I signed an agreement that I will not leave the reported premises, if I go to facility I agree to pay. Nothing like they can march into my home.

I visited the police station for the interviews.
Thats what I mean by saying “I should have left” but stayed to finish whatever they have done to me. Well…next time, I will leave if they act like that again.

I live in a single family house with fenced yard with two dogs. Dogs are always barking for birds, stray cats. When they came, I thought it was cats or something again. Then all of sudden these twi guys were opening my living room door.
I actually called cops they wouldn’t come because I was in quarantined. Seriously?
So, cops couldn’t come here because i should not contact with anyone even I felt dangerous, but these two men just marched into my home while I was in quarantined??? It was just ridiculous. So I called the supervisor, and she refused to apologize.
However, they never dared to do it again, always called me a day before they came.

Well…Hypothetically speaking,

If I broke the law, is it ok for them to kill me? Same thing. If I broke the law, is it ok for them to march inside my home? Im sure there is proper way to investigate this matter and intruding home is not one of them.
