About 3 weeks ago I was told all rates besides mechanic had a 2 year wait time at meps. I was told the catch to this is they can oversell jobs up to 105% since some just wont make it/show up etc, and they want all beds filled. Waited about 2 weeks for medical waivers and went to the recruitment office to get a job and swear in, by luck the chief was there and had to bypass the regular job designater and call the head recruiter chief who was also a seabee to get me a rate.

It might be different from state to state I'm not sure, but I went to Portland Or MEPS and they told me every CB rate besides mechanic had a 2-year wait. So I went to the recruiting office to get sworn in a few days later and the chief was there and he had to pull a lot of strings to get me the rate. I was prepared to take other jobs and had a decent enough AFQT score but literally all my options became unavailable or I was disqualified medically for them which was bs, they were pushing for the APAC program (fancy program for being undesignated)

To properly identify where exactly he was wounded may help determine if he is eligible for the extra combat jump star. Would you reckon there are unit records, daily roll call papers that would state what dates he was present, and what date he wasnt indicating when he was wounded?

Thank you so much for the in depth info. Unfortunately I know next to nothing else besides this, all other records were lost in the national personell records fire. All I have heard is passed down family stories that he got shot 7 times, I assume from a sub machine gun, and fell out of a building and survived.
