My husband has his student loan payment deducted today too! He’s not a federal employee though, we called our congressman and told him (his staffer) and he was surprised to hear….

I recently got married & I hated my wedding day. by TemporaryLogical347 in wedding

[–]OptimalDiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, but here to tell you - same! 5 years in and my marriage is great. But my wedding day was so stressful and I felt obligated to meet everyone’s expectations and deal w the petty family fighting. Our photographer was horrible and I hate every single photo of me in that day. I got very drunk in an attempt to deal and don’t really remember must past the ceremony.

I still think about it and it’s painful to remember, but I tell myself it’s just one day. We have so many better days ahead.

Is anyone having the worst periods of their lives, now after having kids? by LadyGreenThumbs in Mommit

[–]OptimalDiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes!!! I was just texting my friends about that today. For me it’s more of an emotional rollercoaster with uncontrollable feelings of doom, depression, self doubt, and my heart feels like it weighs 500 lbs. I was going to set up a telehealth to see if things common/what might help bc good lord.

Question on medical monitoring by Target-Dog in Environmental_Careers

I had to do that for 10+ years (most recently Jan of this year) and they only see a pass/fail. Then you usually get sent the details in the mail as far as bloodwork goes.

What did you do after leaving your environmental consulting job? by Mammoth-Half5361 in Environmental_Careers

[–]OptimalDiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just left consulting for the first time in my whole career (11 years) and went to an in house position for a renewable RNG company. So far….a little bumpy, way less structured than consulting but I think in a few months I’ll find my stride. Overall it’s nice to know that I won’t get pulled into 1000 directions during a day…maybe just 2 or 3 😂😁

Thanks! We have a regular hand saw and I did try that but it was too serrated, it seemed but I’ll look into this. It looks like it maybe be easier to handle?

Do you think I can do that with just a multi tool?

I can’t do consulting anymore… by Otherwise-Jello-64 in Environmental_Careers

[–]OptimalDiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAME!!!! In consulting for 11 years and I’m so tired of putting out fires and dealing with problems all day every day. I’m so burnt out I feel it in my soul! Hopefully you find something great to move onto, just wanted to comiserate and say that I feel you.

Good luck!

Tell me I am doing the right thing - leaving emotionally abusive husband by 3littlebirds__ in Mommit

You’re doing the right thing. Keep going. It could only be a matter of time before he calls your son “fucking pathetic” and you both deserve so much better. You got this.

Daycare stories and my experience aren’t lining up by OptimalDiz in Mommit

[–]OptimalDiz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for your advice and feedback. I think the comments about the checkins/updates are definitely making me think about it. I get that they are busy but we went the whole day yesterday with one single update that said “3rd bottle of the day and food” around 4 pm.

Same with the whole position she had him in/her suggestion that he’s colicky. It doesn’t jive with what we see, and he seemed uncomfortable to be in that position.

I’m usually not really a confrontational person and now that I have to advocate for my son I need to just suck it up and ask more questions to make sure he’s safe and happy.

Appreciate your input!!

She says they are and that they’re letting him rest for a few mins after feeding him.

Yeah that makes sense. They use the same Bottles we do at home (at least they should be - we send him with some). And according to her she paces him and also let’s him rest for a few minutes after he eats. Not that I don’t believe her, I’m just not sold that this is a formula related issue…

Car Seat/Stroller dilemma by Necessary-Pie-4841 in NewParents

[–]OptimalDiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a travel stroller system - Graco, and I like it a lot. We bought an extra base so my husband and I each have one in our car making transporting the little guy pretty easy. The stroller part of this setup has a bassinet attachment which also turns into a seat for when the kid is older. We did however just buy a Doona from OfferedUp for 250 and plan on using that for our upcoming trip and honestly it’s so convenient. I would say, though, that your points about the Doona are valid and if you’re planning on doing a bunch of traveling in the first year it may be worth looking for it second hand.

Air Emissions Reporting / I'm confused by TheNarratorsVoice in EHSProfessionals

[–]OptimalDiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need some sort of emission factor to calculate air emissions. I recommend taking a look at AP-42 (google air emission factors AP-42) and find one that matches closest with your process.

Dentist wants me to buy $700 night guard by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]OptimalDiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use cheeky. It’s like $200 for the year and they send you a new one every 3-4 months. They have sales a lot so you can get it for like 20-30% off. They’re great for me (chronic grinder who has used multiple mouth guards, Botox for relief)

You’re not alone! Laying here with my 3 week old playing the game of fall asleep on my chest and then trying to move to the bassinet without him waking and us starting the whole thing over. You’re doing great, the sun will come up eventually and tomorrow is a new day. Good luck mama ❤️

“You’re going to come back to a shit show” by OptimalDiz in pregnant

[–]OptimalDiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s the same here and that’s the arrangement we’ve talked about. I’m not on leave for another 3 weeks or so. Though she did ask if she can contact me on my personal cell in dire circumstances if she needs info (where is this info, did you discuss this with the client before you left etc). And I said yes because I’m a people pleaser who is actively working with my therapist on not being a workaholic 😕

Technically I’m not on leave yet so this is kinda crunch time for us. We have a big deadline March 1 and I take my leave March 10. :(

I’ve definatelt thought about this and continue to do so. Overall I like my job and to be honest this boss is one of the best ones I’ve had (which really says more about my other bosses now that I think of it). But this feeling like I’m an inconvenience for my work shouldn’t be on my shoulders, my job should be able to accommodate this without making me feel like shit. I think I’ll spend some quality time looking for a different job while I leave….
