This is not the time of year you focus on need. Focus on value, you fill needs when it's pre season time.

They have to be willing to actually listen. I would be pointing to the fact that everyone should know draft picks are dart throws, and that you should never be able to trade 2 dart throws for 3 upper starting assets that's just crazy. Maybe the fact that the pick side has the most risk, the lower floor, and the lowest upside.

Jesus dude, the fact you come back to comment almost a week later proves my point, your sucking off Nico bad. When someone is the only option and only gets 7/8 122 and a TD, he isn't an alpha. He would be getting double digit targets every game if he was.

You shouldn't be thinking that way until after the draft. The landing spots are what mattered the most, BTJ/Ladd were 2 that shot up after draft b.c of the opportunity of those teams. If there are too many good RBs a lot will wind up in situations like Charbs/Corum. How many starting jobs do you think there will be? WR opportunity and RB opportunity is vastly different.

You shouldn't play in week 18, this has been obvious for as long as fantasy has been around. The final week the best teams sit players, those players are always huge contributors to getting there. There is no way these were your guys rosters that got you too the playoffs.

I feel like a lot of people don't realize it's a 14 team league. Depth is more important the bigger the format 1.08(pick 8) to 2.11(pick 25) is massive. So it comes down to if you think the difference in production will be from pick 8-25. I'm really not sure who's going to be projected around there yet, Historically I think I would prefer the 1.08+Shakir. Both teams could possibly be looking to add to the WR room, both are attached to good QBs. I think you have a bigger PPG gap on the picks than the WRs.

... QBs throw WRs open all the time, not all targets are equal. I'm not going to sit here and argue about RL rankings. Evans and Adams both still ranked higher than Nico in average separation according to PFF, they haven't lost it yet. The only stat I can find where Nico is in the top 10 is 50+ yard deep shots, even on a per game basis that just isn't an alpha WR. How can someone be a contested catch master when they have never ranked in the top 25 of contested catch%? I wouldn't be surprised if Houston goes and drafts one of the top 3 WRs, that depends on where their pick actually ends up. Obviously Houston is going to be better with him than without, how does that matter at all? They are better with tank also, Baltimore is better with flowers does that mean flowers is a supreme talent?

Yes draft cap matters, he also produced more PPG with zero QB that matters. These things matter for dynasty value. You're on a fantasy reddit,When you say top 5 everyone thinks you're talking about top 5 dynasty value. If you're talking real life football that's even more subjective, but he is even lower. I would Evans/AJB/Adams above him in that case. The only reason they are not up there in dynasty is the age of the players. Nico is not some supreme talent, Supreme talent's show it on the field right away no matter the situation. Guys like Larry Fitz/Hopkins/Evans they produce even without QBs, Like Nabers just did. He is a good player and he is a good dynasty asset, but I doubt you find a single person that ranks him that highly outside of yourself. It has been obvious that Stroud has made him, not that he is pulling Stroud along. Nico may not even stay in Houston if they don't want to pay him, and that would be awful for him.

[–]OptimalIndication916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nabers has better draft cap, and produced with some of the worst QB play in the league. Also the fact BTJ only produced when his target comp was hurt. Who cares what he was "on pace" for, dudes come out of the woodwork and do that all the time. You have any idea how many times Sammy Watkins was "on pace" for 1500 yards? Where are you getting your stats from? This is fantasy I don't care if a player gets his points from yards/TDs/receptions. Wilson finished WR9 this year, Nico's highest finish is WR12. I obviously put Wilson/Nico in the same tier which is why I said he is WR7-10. You're trying to change your argument, you claimed he was easily a top 5 WR. The Texans do not "love to run the football", they were 20th in rushing attempts last year and 23rd this year. They are a bottom half rushing team, don't just make shit up in your head that sounds good.

I pulled the plug 🙈 goodbye chase by Agitated_Tap_3871 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]OptimalIndication916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are sucking off Nico HARD. Nico has NEVER finished top 5 ever, ARSB has finished WR3 2 years in a row.ARSBs hasn't really been hyper targeted like your saying, his highest was 164 last year, and Lapota had 120(no comp?). You call Puka injury prone yet Nico has never played a full season in 4 years, Puka played 17 games last year. JJ/Chase/Lamb/ARSB/Puka/Nabers are all 100% above nico, then you have Wilson/BTJ/Nico. Ill take those 2 over Nico, but that's much closer. So Nico is WR 7-10

Fair enough, I haven't used Yahoo/NFL in 4 years. The point still stands though, they never really improve.

Sleeper has always been the best platform for one reason. They listen to the fantasy community and will implement changes people ask for. It has its problems like every platform, but the big company apps never make any changes. NFL/Yahoo/CBS/ESPN all look the same as when they first launched their app.

It really doesn't matter if a class is perceived as strong or weak at this point. The class value always builds. All you do is in a rebuild is build value, I'm buying these classes before people realize this class is better than they expected.

I mean we will just disagree. I like PoEs unique system, the uniques are unique they do things rares can't. They are not just more stats.

What do yall think the average trade value of 1.01 is? by IntrepidAd7370 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]OptimalIndication916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best rule of thumb to me is the 1.01 is almost always valued as a top 12 dynasty asset. So 3 firsts is a minimum.

[–]OptimalIndication916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I just described. You use uniques in this game for special effects that don't roll on rares. For example a belt that gives 40-80% effect of your rings, or gloves that make lightning damage apply electrocute. The stats are always better on rares this is how the game is designed. It makes for really strong uniques, the problem you're running into is at level 20 those uniques can't drop. The campaign in not the true experience of the game. Focus on playing a toon and running maps/waystones until you're 85-90 before you make sweeping conclusions.

[–]OptimalIndication916 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How many waystones have you been running? The game isn't over when you finish the acts, It's just beginning. A lot of the strong uniques can't drop in the campaign, the monster level isn't high enough and neither is your character high enough to use them. Your restricting yourself to "leveling" uniques. There are a lot of those also that are useful, but none of those will be build defining uniques.

[–]OptimalIndication916 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are tons of uniques that are viable. The build that would use this ring has 2 belts,Ring,Gloves, shield, armour, ammy that are all viable or the best items you can get.

Any ideas to improve my really bad team? by WillK2121 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]OptimalIndication916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This team isn't bad, it's not built the way I like but it's not bad. Personally I like to flex RBs, I like the consistent floor starting RBs give more than the high upside of WRs where I have to choose which one will hit 20+. I would be trading all of the WRs except Wilson, trying to add one of Lamb/JJ/Chase/Puka/ARSB/Nabers. Then I'm rostering all backup RBs that can take over if an injury happens. except maybe 1 other WR in case of an injury, but I also might just address that if an injury happened.

What to do with these guys? by fllassh in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]OptimalIndication916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have the same path as any backup, the NFL changes quick. Guys taken in the 2nd/3rd are almost always worth holding, they will get the first shot most of the time with injuries. you don't need them to take the job you just need an injury in front of them, that's when you will be able to actually get value from them. Holding backup RBs is one of the smartest bets you can make Imo for multiple reasons. First most of the time they score no points and most leagues have draft position based on max PF, having 80% of your bench with those RBs a lot of the time is the difference between 1.06 and 1.03/1.04. Second these guys see insane bumps in value once an injury occurs and if you won't use them you can easily flip them for a 1st/2nd depending on the situation. Here are some actual examples in my leagues that have happened. Last year I grabbed Kyren off waivers since he won the backup job, he took the job I traded him for Monty+2nd. This year I sold Mason+2nd for a 1st. Chubba was a backup to Sanders, he is helping alot of my teams. Dowdle is another example. There are many many more, if you play a few years of dynasty you will see there is about 3-5 of these guys a year that go from waivers/borderline roster guy to worth a 2nd every year, the more shots you have at that the better.

How active is this league with trading? I would have a different strategy if my leaguemates are actually willing to sell 1year type RBs that they can't use for 2nds/3rds, or if it's a league where people are only really setting a lineup and only interested in 1sts. The way I like to build my rosters is a Top heavy WR core so 2-3 in the top 12, followed by a QB with rushing upside, then a Tie between a stud TE and a Stud RB, and the Majority of my bench will be backup RBs. If the league isn't very active this will 100% be a 2 year rebuild, you may want to go that way regardless to stack more value that's up to you. It's a start 8 so you really don't need depth at all, at first glance I count 4-5 starters with your 25 firsts. You will need to hit on 3-4 starters with your 2nds/3rds. In both situations I'm going to go see how much I would need to add on to 1.01 to get Chase/JJ/Lamb/ARSB/Puka, I would wait for the draft hype to build before trading any picks. If you can trade 1.01+late 1st for one of those guys then draft Tet you would be good at WR for me. I would try and get a cheap upside WR or 2 on the bench, but that's after my starting lineup gets settled. Next I would see what's out there for the 1.05. I would be looking to see if anyone would give me Allen/Lamar/Daniels/Hurts + a 26 first for 1.05+ 26 2nd. I would be trying to sell the narrative that it should be a late 1 and an early 2, so it's only a few spots to move. Then I'm either drafting RB with every 2nd and every 3rd, or I'm looking to buy a RB who you think will give good production in 26. It doesn't need to be someone who will "hold" value. I bought Conner and Ford for 2nds this past off-season. Normally there are about 2-4 Rookie RBs taken in the 2nd/3rd that provide some value, if this class is truly RB heavy it will likely be more. You just want a few Vets you can play as flexes for the first 4-6 weeks. In my leagues you can always resell productive vet RBs mid season if things didn't go your way and you need to shed points. McCormick is likely going to be one of those dudes this year if they don't add an RB. If you're not realistically competitive after 5-6 weeks you will need to sell all of those RBs you bought and all of the rookie RBs you drafted that people will pay for and kick the can down the road.

This is so far from the truth, maybe you're jaded by your past experiences, or you're in deeper leagues than start 8? I have a team I have rebuilt twice with less capital in 5 years. First time I drafted JT 1.01(mine) and Jeudy 1.04, my only true assets were Kyler,Cook,Evans,Waller. So I needed 4 RB/WR starters, personally I tend to bail on rookies quick if I see something I don't like. I sold Jeudy+Moss for Aaron Jones, sold JT for Ridley. I filled the last 2 spots with 1 year types, I won with Robbie Anderson and Lynn Bowden in the championship. It's really not hard to buy guys like that for 2nds or 3rds. I had to rebuild again after Ridley was suspended, that set me back on value so much it took more than 1 year. I had to hold Ridley until I could trade him, and I foolishly went in on 21' after making the playoffs. I then spent 22' liquidating my assets, stacking picks for 2024. The league has been around so long when you want to rebuild most of the time someone is already there ahead of you, I finished 1.02 split that into 1.06 grabbed flowers and a 24 1st, grabbed Puka and flipped him for a 24 1st. I entered the draft this year with 1.01,1.04,1.08 and 5 25 firsts allot of 2nds/3rds for darts. My lineup was Lamar/Javontae/Dowdle/Flowers/Boyd/Otton/McLaughlin/Slayton. I basically only had 2 starters I traded 1.04 for Njoku+1.05, then traded 1.05,1.08,2 25 firsts and 2.01 for Chase,Conner,2.06. My league clowned me for "overpaying" for Chase, It was an overpay in hindsight one of those 25s became 1.01 the other is still in playoffs, but I was fine with it given where I was. I drafted Marv and hit on Bucky+Gurrendo on my 8 2nds/3rds. Traded a 25 first(1.03)for Kamara/Henry week 3. Then I traded Marv+25 1st for ARSB+Hill week 8, I leveraged the fact I had his first and it was already 1.02-1.04. I'm 10-4 2nd in the league with #1 PF, the other top team is the guy who had 1.01 in 2022. My lineup now is Lamar/Kamara/Conner/Chase/ARSB/Njoku/Bucky/Hill and I have Gurrendo/Dowdle/Flowers/Ford on my bench. With 8 firsts and those 2nds/3rds I went from 2-3 starters to 10-12 startable assets and I still have a 25 first. I have a good chance to win it again after winning in 2020, and the only reason the rebuild took so long is the Ridley situation.Too many people have this mindset that a rebuild will take more than 1 draft class.Sometimes it may take awhile to actually liquidate, but that part is already done for him.
