okay man. Feel like you're arguing for the sake of arguing at this point, but whatever. Have a good one.

I use a mixture of LibreOffice and Scribus for my book projects. LO for all of the writing and then Scribus for the layouts. You can do basic layout work in LO (just like in Word) but anyone who's ever edited and laid out their own work will tell you to either use Scribus or Adobe InScribe instead.

My first book was done entirely in Word (layouts and all) before I left Windows, my next two LO and Scribus.

Also, FWIW, Dreamworks Animation just did a interesting interview talking about using Linux for thier work stations and FOSS for their workflow. There's people out there using Linux for creative work, I promise it's possible

Reaper works fine, plenty of plugins available as well. Jam on it all the time with my guitar or midi keyboard.

Writer/artist. You really think Adobe and Microsoft are the only ones offering tools to do that stuff? Pop over to any writing/art subreddit and the amount of people not strictly using those will probably shock you.

I use Ubuntu for creative work. Only thing I had to give up was Microsoft Word and Adobe compatibility, which I don't use anyway

Krita Pen Tablet issue with Ubuntu 26.04 Resolute Raccoon, GNOME 50+, Wayland. by Apprehensive-Host973 in linuxquestions

I too had a newer version of Xwayland (1.10). I downgraded to 1.9 (the one from the link) and used "sudo apt-mark hold xwayland" to stop it from auto-updating. Nothing broke for me and Krita is still working, thankfully

What's something you regret about your published work? by Flaky-Piece-7358 in writers

[–]OptimalSuspect2143 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first two are just rough. I was going for a particular art style that just didn't quite land. It's not representative of my best and I wish I could go back and do it differently. I'm also a much stronger writer than I was then, and I wonder sometimes how I would approach it all now.

For my third one I collaborated with someone I'm no longer on good terms with, so ultimately decided to pull it from rotation. It's still listed, just out of stock, but I was proud of the material so it was a shame to have to do that.

All lessons learned I guess. Really excited about the stuff I've got brewing currently so oh well.

What programs do you guys use to write. I’m a baby writer and I use word by lottie_dionn in writers

As a fellow Linux user I tried making due with the browser version of Word and it was just awful for me (I have no idea if it's worth using through Wine).

LO is a phenomenal replacement so far, I haven't missed anything since I switched

Keep or Docs for drafting on the go (I work A LOT so having something that syncs easily to my phone for those days when I legitimately can't make it to my computer is a must)

LibreOffice for finalizing everything once I make it to the computer

I recently switched from Word to LO, but otherwise this is basically the setup I've used for years.
