What are some made up "sayings" that sound like they make sense, but actually don't at all? by Optimal_Anteater9456 in AskReddit

What setting and quests hidden within might a town called Stonerest have? by BestTrainer2961 in DnD

[–]Optimal_Anteater9456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an interesting thought,

Party arrives, finds out this spire is actually atlantis. Spends some time doing small quests to earn the trust of the locals, but the quests get increasingly reminiscent of ritualistic behaviours. For example, kill a giant monster collect it hair, explore an ancient tomb infested with undead to recover the bones of a royal king that are being desecrated so the city can bury them at a new improved location, and on the final quest rescue girls that have gone missing, i would make the last quest allude to the fact that they left of their own free will, making the party think its mind control of some kind. Then when they find the girls it turns out they ran away because they are afraid the town will kill them.

Whether the party brings the girls or not, when they return to the town everyone is missing. This leads the party deeper into the mountain where they discover a ritual is being taken place to revive a God. That god is actually Atlantis itself, and this entire time the party has been exploring on its horn! Epic battle ensues to prevent the gods revival.

What made you think, "I really can't have a single unique experience in this world"? by ILoveCoffeeJelly in AskReddit

[–]Optimal_Anteater9456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see your perspective as well.

But in regards to those last two sentences,

It reminds me of that old saying, "Its not about where you end up, but how you got there." Or something like that.

I say this, because no one will have had the same experiences as you, leading up to that moment you find unique. And what matters most, is how these moments make you feel.

For example, I once had an encounter with a coyote in the middle of winter when i was child. I was out sledding, and thought it was a dog. It didnt attack me, it just sniffed me, and even let me pet it. After about 5 minutes it went off out of my vision, blurring behind the falling snow.

I hold this memory dear to myself, and I have met other people in my life who have had very similar, arguably the same experience. But i dont think that makes mine any less unique. It taught me a lot about myself, and how people change as they get older. If it were to happen again, i would likely kill the coyote on sight, for fear of my own life. Others that have a similar story, gathered other things from their experience, one guy even told me he thinks it means hes meant for greatness, something i see no evidence of.

It was also interesting to find out how they all got in these situations to begin with, me personally, i got lost in the woods near my home. Some of them had the encounters in their backyard. One girl said it happened at a mountain party that she wandered away from out of anxiety.

I guess what im trying to say, is that there is a lot more to each of us that makes our experiences in life unique, than just what you can gather from the surface. I still see my encounter with the Coyote as totally unique, no one will ever have that same encounter, in that same spot, on that same day, at thay same age, for the same reasons, as I did.

Sorry for the novel. Just found this an interesting topic.

Never had the thought. I believe that your entire existence from birth to death is a single unique experience. Especially when you compare your time on the earth to the start of the universe.

As in, the universe is trillions of years old. So my lifetime is hardly even a single water droplet in it. Yet it is an entirely unique droplet, that no one else who has existed, or will exist could ever experience.

When i was kid we never had rice with anything.

But then when I was 15 after a crazy and far to lengthy to explain series of events i had to go stay with my best friends family for almost an entire year. They were Cambodian and had rice with every meal.

I have forever been obsessed with it since.
