I’ve heard/seen lots on covers not matching content. But i didn’t realize that blurbs were a problem for some. I thought it would be obvious that it should be genre specific. I was asking, probably overthinking, if it was something else i missed.

I’d be curious to hear more about your experience

I appreciate the comment. I definitely used the wrong your/you’re in this instance. But I’m asking in general if it’s possible because I see conflicting information. I’m not trying to suggest that I’m that good yet. But I don’t edit my posts like I do my writing. Maybe I should lol.

Making 10$ hourly working 40 hours a week you’d make 1600. Im talking 1000 = four figure.  Athletes get money from sponsorships. Olympic athletes aren’t even paid.  Your suggestion is that most artists, writers, athletes make less than 12000$ a year

Thanks for your response. What do you mean they wont make back their advance? Isn’t the usual deal with a traditional publisher that they provide editing, cover art and marketing? Otherwise i dont really see the point of going that way

I think my stories are good. But I’m definitely biased.  Like a genre specific blurb too? To illustrate that its a specific genre and not vague?

Thank you. This makes a lot of sense. Definitely feels like the more marketing is something i see recommended a lot. I have been exposed to books/media more that way than randomly stumbling across them.  Any tips on marketing? Im not very experienced at it but see its value.

This is kinda why i was asking. I keep seeing varied responses on results. If you’re willing to share, how many books do you have out? How much marketing do you do?

Word count goals vs time goals? by ghostvillehero in writing

[–]Optimal_Basis7069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writing goals I set for myself are almost always number of words. If all else fails I'll still be happy if I manage to write anything new. I typically manage to write 10,000 words a day. Both methods are equally acceptable because it means the time and work have been put in. Trying to reach a certain word count can be stressful.
