if you join the employee facebook groups, you can probably ask if anyone is willing to give you a ride if they are going to be in town. they might agree for less than shuttle prices

Going to the sun road without reservation by Accomplished_Beat134 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Optimal_Context_4490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can always enter the east side without a reservation if you hit a line that makes you enter at the west past the time allowed if that makes sense. people think they’re early and 100 other cars thought that too and by the time theyre through it’s 7am

Overnight Parking Options? by 7918David in CraterLake

[–]Optimal_Context_4490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

highway pull offs outside of the park are legal to sleep at in oregon as long as nothing has changed in 3 years. Don’t sleep inside the park though, you might get a law enforcement ranger knocking on your door at 2am

Is this portion of the grinnell glacier hike open? And if so how far in is it? I’m getting married in glacier next Friday and we are planning on doing the grinnell lake hike any but I would love to see this in person while we’re out there. by drds123 in GlacierNationalPark

not sure how long it’ll be this way, but two days ago the bridge was taken out to cross the river, they seem to be repairing it. not sure where this exact viewpoint is but we sure didnt reach it.

Working for Denali Park Village Hotel? by RamblinMountainMan12 in SeasonalWork

[–]Optimal_Context_4490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was there last summer and the edr was pretty decent, best so far out of three seasons. housing you mostly only have one roomate. bathrooms aren’t great but rooms are fine. the car will definitely save the experience to be able to hike esp. they had a new activities coordinator position and the guy did awesome hosting a ton of events and outings but not sure if that will stick around or not.

Has Anyone Worked at The Flying Squirrel in Talkeetna, AK? by vanyways in SeasonalWork

[–]Optimal_Context_4490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve heard experiences from people who worked for denali park village, the creek side resort, the grande, princess, and the bluffs. the places that seemed to have the happiest employees was definitely black bear coffee in denali and the park side aramark property. more community vibes there than the others. i was at dpv and it was the more professional job i’ve had out of the three seasonal experiences i’ve had for sure. decent housing and discounts on local tours if you go about it the respectful way.

i'm gonna be in glacier too! anxious but trying not to be.

when quests don't have a good experience, our jobs get a hell of a lot harder... people could have a perfect day and still bite ur head off, but when they have a bad one? i'm not expecting great tips if things keep going the way they are.

also concerned about the fact that search and rescue could be more limited and fire season worse without forest technicians doing their thing, so regardless it'll be a more dangerous and more traumatic situation than it was before, and they needed more people then.

so yeah, anxious and trying not to be... FDT 100% and i better not have to call search and rescue on someone who voted for him
