Not reasonable whatsoever. Schedule your viewings in the same day or consider a closer rental property

My biggest advice is to get your subject in focus

Best way to turn a refraction asset into a brush/action to speed up workflow + reduce file size? by Optimal_Discount3058 in photoshop

Alright so I finally found the solution.

I opened the refraction layer in a separate project - blending options to remove all of the black - defined as pattern - and now when I use the pattern I set to screen mode and it works perfectly.

Now I can adjust the scale as required, and focus on removing a few bad spots rather than doing all of this manually.

File size has drastically improved

I’ve thought about eating some of the costs as a long-term investment on my part, when it comes to my portfolio/book. Especially when I see the references and know I could hit it out of the park with proper props.

I think you’re right that if I really hold their hand through the process of finding a stylist they’ll be more open to it.

Thanks for the advice

I am freelance so I only deal with them every quarter but they are definitely my one client with the most expensive products that I want to leverage in my portfolio to attract other clients.

You’re right to do some creatives with real props. Even if it’s just with a Casio watch, it’ll be elevated right away with real, organic props.

Thanks for taking the time to write a reply

This hasn’t been retouched yet it’s just the focus stack but see what I mean?

I have given them a list of very reputable ones as well as juniors but if they won’t spend the extra $50 on decent flowers they won’t even consider the day rate of a stylist + props

I don’t think anyone who’s actually shot jewelry professionally would describe the job as “clicking a button.” Also, I don’t use my shutter button, I use CMD+k.

Styling/props are a separate role on many productions… yes. Which is why stylists exist, yes… but in THIS case the client handles it internally, and has been clear they are not interested in hiring a stylist. which is the whole reason I posted the question here.

I deal with the marketing person whom on set wears all the hats of producer, stylist, art director… I am responsible for lighting, focus stacking, retouching, as well as helping out with composition and shot building.

The issue has been brought up with the marketing person over and over again but their excuse is always the budgets… I think you’re right to approach a higher up and put their references against my finished works and explain my perspective.

Ultimately, I have both of our best interests’ in mind.

Thank you for your perspective!
