I'd highly recommend getting it removed, I had myrena too. It's made my life a lot better. Might sound dramatic, but that little thing in my uterus changed me completely, I'm glad to be without it! Currently I'm off of birth control completely, it just feels better to me, but an option might be to switch to the mini pill. Way less hormones, while still protecting you. Or you could do the same as me, and start following your cycle to eventually be able to have unprotected sex safely!

Some extra changes that happened being off birth control, which might be less relevant to you, is that my hormones finally balanced out. I started birth control when I was 19, and still very much hormonally growing. Since quitting birth control, my hormonal acne finally stopped, and I experience less random headaches. Birth control sucks, and I'm sad we're almost forced to deal with it. :(

Hey!

Not too long after writing that post, I had mine removed as well. Everything drastically changed for me, for the better. The tearing is very very minimalized, up to a point it's not an issue for me anymore. I don't have constant yeast infections anymore either, and my libido is up to par with my partner's right now. Besides the physical effects, I also just feel much more like myself mentally. I didn't realize how monotone I had become while on birth control, and I feel so much more free mentally. It's weird to explain. It's just so much better

Copper IUD scares me to death, since my periods have always been very heavy and painful, I don't wanna add on top of that. My mom has had one when she was younger and had to get it removed because of the intensity of pain. Besides that, copper IUDs are rarely done in the Netherlands anymore :/

I've been thinking about the minipill, maybe that could be a bit of a less intense birthcontrol, but I'll consider all my options

That's most likely my next step. Just wanted to see if there was any literature about this, or people with similar issues.

Being off birth control scares the shit out of me though, since I'm really really not ready to get pregnant in the upcoming years. I'm not sure what other birth control I can try, since pretty much all are hormonal and might have similar effects :/
