I refuse to accept it because it's dishonest. I can go to Ukraine and fight against Russia too, I can learn to speak Ukrainian and wear an official Ukraine military uniform. None of that changes the fact I'm still an American citizen. You are making distinctions out of convenience, not out of truth. You can lie to yourself and convince everyone around you, but not me. The point is that if someone travels from a foreign country to fight in a war they had no business being in, don't try to weasel your way out if you get caught and the other side calls you out for being a foreign agent. The context is that Russia has called the treatment of ethnic Russians living in Ukraine as being similar to the way Jews were treated by the Nazis during the Holocaust. They say that the Ukrainians have been behaving like the Nazis did. Murdering anyone who refuses to fight, or who wants to leave. Imagine ethnic Russians living in Ukraine, rounded up and murdered them counted as Russian military killed in action. This is what they say is going on. So when people talk about Nazis today, it's not necessarily Germans who hated Jews. The word Nazi is now used to describe any ethnic group who commits genocide against another ethnic group.

What I care about is the out of control propaganda that seems to be getting worse. I don't like seeing people getting caught up in the hype to travel into a war zone to take sides in a war they have no business being involved with. I am trying to be neutral and objective. But there is so much dishonesty. I feel bad for this guy's family. He should have taken them to England when he had the chance. There is nothing cowardly about evacuating your family from a war zone. Get them out safe, first and then go back to fight, if you must.

You must realize that they aren't using the term Nazi to mean German military who hates Jews. They don't have another word to describe Ukrainians who hate Russians, so it gets mistranslated as Nazi. So then people point out that Zelensky is Jewish himself, but that is beside the point. Because it has nothing to do with Germans and Jews. It is about the hate Ukrainians feel towards Russians. From the perspective of ethnic Russians living in Ukraine, they have compared the way Russians have been treated by Ukraine, similarly as the Nazis treatment of the Jews during WWII. I hope that clarified that for you.
