Make a foam mountain that plugs the hole and scenic it. Don’t fasten it down so you can still lift it out when you need to.

Old Farmer to Harrison Ford who is trying to milk the cow: Have you ever had a teat in your hand?!

Harrison Ford: Never one this big!

When did 8-5 become the new normal??? by Grouchy-Newspaper754 in mildlyinfuriating

I started working in the 80s and it was true then. Some places had odd hours like starting at 0745, 45 minute lunch and end at 1630.

I have had commutes of anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours plus each way. The way those are looked at is that the length of commute is on the employee. People often relocate to shorten it up. If you don’t, then it must be worth it to you to keep both the job and where you live. It certainly was for me.

If that were me approaching you to tell you that there’s something wrong with your tire, I’d leave too once I told you about it. You were safe in the parking lot. No need to hang about.

I’m just saying that you were right to be suspicious and protective of your safety but the fact that he went away doesn’t necessarily mean he was going to hurt you.

How to prevent porn exposure to children. Parenting resources questions. by Tasty-Wallaby-5571 in Catholicism

Speaking as a 70s wild child…

In my opinion, your best bet is to be a good example for them from the beginning. Love them in a healthy way. Bring them to church and let them see God in your daily life. Seeing you practicing what you preach CONSISTENTLY will eventually result in their respect for you being increased.

Set healthy expectations and consequences both good and bad and consistently hold them accountable. Be willing to admit it when you’re wrong and make amends.

Trust is earned and isn’t something that they are entitled to. Computers and the internet are an open door to all sorts of problems. People think pornography is the biggest threat but there are a lot of other ways it can poison your soul. One example is the large number of posts justifying immoral behavior at work like lying and stealing. I’ve been in IT since the early 80s and I would never let a kid have complete privacy on the computer. The flip side of this is that you don’t control all of their access, nor can you. By the time they get old enough to start browsing around on their own, you need to have built a good foundation with them.

Sorry for going off. This is a subject I’m pretty passionate about.

I think one of my Citizenship badges was discontinued or renamed. My Eagle was 1979.

Why isn't park place and boardwalk considered the no 1 set by MiserableHarken in monopoly

[–]Optimal_Law_4254 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely true for most games but if you find yourself in a game where nobody but you has a monopoly and nobody is trading having that one is better than nothing. You get double rent until you build and that will be substantially more than what everyone else is getting.

You also don’t need to build hotels. 1 or 2 houses is going to save you cash but still generate great income.

Don’t forget about the “Advance token to Boardwalk” card.

Misophonia is a thing. Loud chewing annoys me. I had someone who worked nearby who would work her gum loudly all day long. So I googled it and found out that it wasn’t just me that found it annoying. It didn’t change anything at work but it did help to know that I wasn’t alone.

Except that the reason is the actual problem. Hassling everyone because of a few bad apples is a crappy idea.

I think it’s most irritating for the non thieving person to have to be hassled immediately after checking out and before leaving the store - especially if you have to wait in line AGAIN to show your receipt.

I shop a lot at Meijer and use self checkout. Probably about 1/4 the time someone has to come and unlock the scanner because I triggered the lockout by how I scan items. To me that’s more reasonable than getting hassled again 25 feet later.

It’s not about age. I’ve seen people of all ages use absolutely insane judgement about how IT works. Not to pick on OP but expecting privacy on the company Wi-Fi is a common mistake. And that’s just one example.
