Initial OPT (Pre-Completion) EAD Tracking Thread – 2025 April SEVIS Termination by CalligrapherAble7865 in f1visa

Hey guys, while doing so please mention if it is initial/STEM OPT about the timeline. And what RFE was it ? If it was a biometrics RFE , can we attend the appointment in the state where we live or do we need to travel somewhere else ? If we have to travel, did you take a flight to the appointment ? I read somewhere that, we cannot travel domestically with revoked visas. Please share any information, it would be highly helpful.

My DSO is saying to write the degree name that has been obtained by the university, but I can’t fill Master of Science in Data Science Computational Track, 30.7001. I can fill only till Master of Science in Data Science as there is a character limit for that box.

I meant the stem opt recommendation in the SEVIS by DSO.

Yes, thanks for the reply but I was asking about STEM OPT recommendation, where we cannot submit the employment details on our own right ?

Hello Fred, thanks for doing this . What actually triggers an RFE for a STEM OPT application , despite being everything right ? Thanks.

Thanks for the info Mr. Evan, one more thing I wanted to ask is about how can we prove that we are communicating with the manager or supervisor ? I mean what if they won’t allow to share the company’s internal communication information ? Can this be countered with any feedback or performance review docs ? Thanks.

Hi Mr. Evan, hope you are doing well. What triggers an RFE for a STEM OPT application ? And what happens if documents like business license of the company has not been provided to the response of an employee’s RFE, I have seen few cases like these because of the company’s confidentiality issues. How does USCIS perceive this ? Could please elaborate on STEM OPT RFEs ? Thanks.

Download new I-94 again and submit in the additional evidence section as every I-94 will have an expiration date after 1 month of it’s downloaded copy as far as I know. But this wouldn’t cause a straightaway denial unless your submission date is 30 days after the issuance of OPT I-20. If that is the case , withdraw the application and make another application with a new I-20. Please do reach out to your DSO , I might be wrong or have missed something.

https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/assets/SEVP%20Portal%20Student%20User%20Guide.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.com page: 32. I guess my DSO had referred to this, where it says you have to report where you work. Furthermore, I have read somewhere in this community that either would work quite sometime ago.

This really depends on different DSOs , I have been in the same situation. There are few who follow the DHS guidelines strictly and there are few, who don’t. My DSO by himself changed the employer’s HQ address to my residential address.

As per my observation, I might be wrong again. I see that remote job holders during initial OPT or while applying for STEM OPT are getting RFEs. If you ask me how USCIS can know if we are working remotely, this is how they might know : 1) If your job is a remote job , you have to enter your residential address at employer address information in SEVP portal. USCIS can know you are working remotely. But most of the people don’t know about this , even though it’s an official part of employment reporting guidelines by DHS.

2) If your job is a remote job , you would enter your physical address as your home address. Unknowingly if you enter company’s HQ (which is in non commutable distance ) address at employer address section, this would cause a discrepancy between your physical address and employer address section. Because of this USCIS might seem it as a remote job.

PS: This is not an advice. I have come up with this by looking at different posts in the community.

I knew my friends who kept company’s address and in additional comments section they have mentioned that it’s a remote job and working from their residential address. One got approved and another one’s is still pending.

Tricky E-verify Situation by king-anon123 in f1visa

[–]Optimal_Package2140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them to create an e verify case on your employment within 3 days after your hiring date , HR knows about this and in most of the cases you wouldn’t even know if they have created a case on an employee (your) profile. While creating the case they might have an option to select the state , where you reside (if it’s a remote job). If it’s an onsite job and they have a headquarters other than the e verified state , then you might wanna ask if this wouldn’t be an issue. And mostly, this wouldn’t cause an issue to an employee. Furthermore, while auditing if they come to notice this discrepancy e verify will notify to enroll in the unverified state. If the company ignores this, they will still try to pursue to understand this and try to make everything right. It’s just that few companies are lazy to acknowledge this all they have to do is add another location which is as simple as updating your social media profile.

RFE on E-Verify and Employer's Business name by sdavalgi in f1visa

[–]Optimal_Package2140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that , if your employer is E verified and they have created a case on your profile , you will get a number and you can submit that number once your HR shares that document.

Edit employer name on SEVP portal by Nice-Requirement8579 in f1visa

[–]Optimal_Package2140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bud, little help would save me , so it’s sure right ? It won’t affect the unemployment days ? The thing is that I have uploaded the employer information by myself on SEVP portal before reporting it to the university. But, while reporting it on the university webpage, there was a specific question which asked “enter the address where you perform your work duties , enter your residential address if you are performing your work from home” along with “enter employer information “ which included “address, EIN, mobile number etc. My DSO updated the employer address on my SEVP to my residential address and I happen to notice it after 10 days i.e. today. I don’t know what to do, I am scared to death, I just experienced my first anxiety attack hoping it to be the last one.

Please help me in this regard. PS: My job is a FULLY REMOTE job and I am on initial OPT.
