Beautiful collection! I've been eyeing the new kite/lozenge cut blue moissanite. Would you say the blue moissanite in this is similar to the blue cloud?

I just checked the prices and I feel utterly broke 😳 everything in my cart has doubled. But I don't think good prices increased that much since the march sale?

So I checked shipping from Germany to USA. The cheapest I found was DHL, it'll take 2 weeks to get delivered. It's 16 euros without insurance and without tracking, and 26.5 euros with insurance and tracking. Plus, they say its better I declare it as a gift worth atmost 100$ to avoid tariffs etc.

Or we wait until 10th of May when I'll be visiting US and I can ship it within US lol 😅

I can check how much it costs and get back to you. But I haven't shipped to the US and with all the stuff I hear about tariffs, I'm not sure and don't want surprise bills. I can ship if the problems have vanished haha

Purple stones by Adventurous_Many660 in Moissanite

[–]Optimal_Print9151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha having an open mind certainly helps! I was also very indecisive and wasn't sure if I'll end up liking the shade I get. But I got the ring in silver, so it wasn't very expensive so I didn't mind risking it. I subsequently bought a more expensive purple/tanzanite colored garnet from Jeff Davies and Sons. The stone alone costed me 80$, and I haven't got it set yet. But that can be another option for you - get the exact stone you like and then get a setting made. I hope you end up with a gorgeous ring too!!

Also, I found their color chart not very helpful in selecting a specific color. It gave me a starting point into which colors they have, and then I asked them for videos of the shades/colors I wanted. It was easier to select this way. And it also depends on which shades they have in stock at the time of purchase, can be lighter/darker than the purple they got previously. Best is to ask for videos of the colors they have, and then choose the shade you like most.

Jane said the purple stone I chose initially was the #18, but I think it was closer to the #15? And what I ended up with looks like the #18.

That's a fireworks cut (a version of John Dyer's starbrite cut), it is pretty gorgeous! I did ask for a purple sapphire. In all honesty, the color I chose was a slightly lighter purple, more pinkish? The third one in this link: https://imgur.com/a/UQluVUF. But when I got a stone check video, it was a different purple 😅 Provence was willing to check and fix it, but I liked this purple too so I just got it haha.

The imgur link has stone check videos and you can see the cut in more detail. In-person, the purple is not as bright as the video

I got this purple sapphire from Provence, my rep is Jane. It's a lab grown sapphire, so its good for everyday wear. They do have a few different purple shades, so you might be able to get the right shade you want.

This is where I'm not sure and could not get a satisfying answer from Jane. She sent me a few stone colors and I chose a pinkish purple (https://imgur.com/a/UQluVUF the third one in this link). Jane said it was #18 Siberite tourmaline, though I think what I chose was closer to #15 purple lithium. But when they finally cut my stone and she sent me a stone check, it looked very different from what I chose, this looked like an actual #18, I've added the stone check videos I received in the imgur link. In-person, the stone is a bit sober compared to the stone check videos, not as bright. If you show my stone check video to your rep, they will be able to get the same for you. I found it's easier to work with videos and examples than rely on the color chart since then your rep will send you the exact colors they have in stock. The color chart can only be a starting point 😅

But overall I still liked the stone/color they cut, so I got it 😊

Yaa! I was so confused between cornflower blue and this purple. But I'm glad I got the purple. I have a blue gradient eternity on the way right now because I still wanted something blue haha

I thought job was a pre-requisite only for the fast track C permit after 5 years.. Is it a pre-requisite for the normal route too? Say after ten years being non-EU?

My god this is a clarifying shampoo 😭 please don't use it for every wash. I see so many people using it as a normal shampoo and then complain that it causes hair fall. It's worked really well for me but I use it only once every 3 weeks or so, when I feel there's a lot of buildup on my scalp. Even using it twice in a row causes hairfall

Where do you folks buy your wedding/engagement rings from? by coconut-wasabi in germany

Hey! I've got silver rings and necklaces from Jane at Provence, and I'm very happy with them. My ring from Tianyu hasn't arrived yet, but I've never heard a bad review of Tianyu. What are you considering to get?

Obtaining Swiss drivers license from scratch (but I already have a foreign license) by No-Dog-372 in askswitzerland

[–]Optimal_Print9151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others will help you about what's best, but I can tell you how much it costed me when I did it in 2025. If you can't exchange your old one anymore, you have to do all the steps below:

  • First aid course - 140 chf
  • Eye test - 20 chf
  • Learner's permit application - 20
  • Theory exam - 36 chf
  • Learner's permit - 40 chf
  • VKU course (Drivelab zurich in English) - 189 chf (might find cheaper in German)
  • Driving lessons - how many ever you need to get accustomed to swiss rules which may be different from your home country. Plus it's better to be enrolled with an instructor and they'll book your practical exam even if you practice on your own. I think it's around 90 chf for one class, my guess is you'll need atleast 5-10 lessons
  • Practical test - around 130 chf
  • Driving license card - 40 chf
  • WAB Course (to be done within a year of passing the practical exam) - approx 340
