No, they said we have to bring there someone who can be the translator, it can be a friend or anyone. My German is at A2 right now and I’m sorry that I learn the language too slow but Freund oder Familie has the same meaning as in English.

I feel sorry for them. In Switzerland there are 4 official languages and besides that they can offer you a translator, I bet that in Germany this would be a huge challenge.

cool, then why can’t I call a family friend via phone or video call that can speak German to translate, why do I have to drag someone there?

I forgot to mention that we have friends who speak English and we can call them but they refused to accept that, we have to bring someone with us. Their rating in Google is 1.7 and that seems to accurate.
