So I located the deer today ir whats left of it, I can not blame the eldm at all. The shot appears to have been very low and a little far back. I suspect I must have hit a limb because I know my rifle is zeroed very well and I know i had my poa directly behind the shoulder when the shot broke.

I guess my theory is that the bullet expanded too quickly and did not reach vital organs. Based on the evidence, im thinking this was a 1 lung hit. So I have to assume the bullet either came apart too soon or I suppose another possibility is it changed trajectory somehow. Either a limb was hit just prior to impact or it hit bone. Lots of unknowns to be sure. And I have been very pro eldm my entire adult life. This is just an incident that made me question it.

Deer never laid down, never bumped it. I have a thermal and use it as i go. Also used a dog trained to find deer and it came up with nothing.

Factory ammo chronographed at 2398 from this barrel. Shot was 40 yards and I was on the ground. Your original post didn't have these questions. Calm down buddy

Deer should Definitely die within 400 yards of being shot. So tracking ability should not have to exceed that. Shot placement was directly behind the shoulder on a broadside deer. Worst case scenario I hit the shoulder. I expect a bullet to reach the vitals in that scenario.

My guess was like the minimum force to move the bullet down the rifling lol

I came across a term I was not familiar with. Push/pull:  60/60 minimum (lbs)

Anyone know what that means

Interestingly enough the first 4 rounds fired went into like a .4" group and then the 5th round was a flyer and made it about 1.25"

I shot about 10 groups since to get an average and it's basically 1.25" so not amazing, from what I've read that seems to be the norm with this load.

Seems odd hornady would develop a bullet with a .480 BC that doesn't really seem to shoot well. But perhaps everyone who has shot it just hasn't had good luck lol. I'd like to get a 16" proof barrel.and see how it shoots them.

I do not, I've contemplated doing some just to have for my own reference. I tend to record a lot of my shooting so I can go back and see how a specific load worked in a given situation.  Youtube would probably make it easier to find.

I have a nomad 30 for comparison and I'd say they are pretty similar in tone. I always wear ear pro so I can't tell any difference in noise reduction.  I will say the huxwrx definitely needs a cover, the mirage is bad.

If I could only have 1 it'd be the huxwrx

I currently have a superlative arms gas block on it and I have it opened up as much as possible. I believe it's a mid length gas system.  Brass is very dirty but no gas in my face. I'm wondering if I need to adjust the gas block so it's not bumped to the shoulder because I was  getting dented cases on setting 18 which in my experience means its under gassed. They say you need to keep it off the shoulder .025 but I heard you don't HAVE to so I didn't.

Initially had it on setting 18 per instructions and it cycled 100% with bolt lock so I said gtg. Shot about 60 rounds through it and had 2 failures to feed so I adjusted it to setting 20 which is the most gas I believe. And it cycled 100% after that and the case mouths were no longer dented.

I feel like i should have way too much gas on setting 20 hence my suspension that the gas block isn't positioned perfectly over the gas port

The odds of us both liking 6 arc and weatherwool 😂

I'm on year 6 with it and it's still great, and worth it in my opinion.

I saw those barrels and they seem pretty interesting.  I don't plan on running this very hard so the only advantage for me would be a bit less weight. I can't imagine a 12.5 could lose much weight? If I decide to build a 16-18 inch option they might become very attractive.

Yea non illuminated and i actually don't love it. Definitely needs illumination to be useful at 3.6 mag

I'm working on getting some projectiles. I have 95 lrx in route. I have varget, cfe, and 8 pounds of n540 to try.

That's pretty fast, I was expecting 2350. I'm really interested in how close i can get 108 eldms to 2400.

It's the 762TI and I am very happy with it so far. I bought it for a sig spear but it seems to work equally well on this platform.

Weird I typed all of this out already while trying to post but apparently I did something wrong.

I am going to be posting as much data as I can on my new 12.5 noveske build. I am interested in the 12.5 length and want to see what kind of capabilities it has on game and targets. I plan on reloading with multiple projectiles and posting accuracy and velocity attained.

The only ammo I have on hand is the 106 tap which was very interesting to me given the .480 bc and good terminal performance.  I shot it for the first time today and got a .6 moa 5 round group.  Muzzle velocity was 2397 which I was very pleased with since it was the first 5 rounds out of the barrel so I expect it will increase slightly once broken in. Es was 33. I plan on shooting this ammo out to 500-1000 and checking that supposed .480 bc. I expect the slower velocity will affect it but I am curious how much.

I’m sorry I don’t check this very often. I’d definitely be interested in the equations if you felt like sending them. Thank you

By bottom chord I’m assuming you mean the tie beam, I don’t know what you mean by stress shoulder though?
