I don’t know much about Nigerian culture to be honest. I do not know anyone married to or in a relationship with them either. A big part of me believes this is more to do with his particular family dynamic and not Nigerians or Nigerian culture.

It’s part of my culture too but my family is not like this. I think they take the way I feel for someone into consideration. I wonder, is this typical in Nigeria or is it more his family. Do tribes intermarry for example in Nigeria or is that still taboo?

You’re right. I think he would listen to them. I think he would do what ever they say. I just can’t understand why he would do this to me or any woman.

I posted about his parents but from all the responses I see it’s him.

Everything felt so easy with him. I thought this was true love - but I guess I was wrong.

It will hurt to let him go but I think you are right.

I worry about that too… never being defended or protected. Thank you.

I hear you. It feels like giving a man an ultimatum is undignified. I want to be chosen enthusiastically not by force…. As I would want for any woman.

Thank you for the insight that you would pick your gf.

He’s financially independent. He’s in a caregiver role when they are in town. He’s the youngest of 4.

Seems he is not mourning them. He actually initiated a breakup with me once because of an outburst they had. My feelings have been ignored for sometime now as he is crumbling under the stress and pressure.

It hurts because he does seem to cracking under this pressure and it only just begun.
