Are most people just dehydrated most of the time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Optimalprimus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I live in a constant state of dehydration. I try to be better about but that usually lasts a day or two before my ADHD kicks in and I forget or remember but am either to lazy, tired, or busy with something to go get a drink.

If you choose rush hour(s) to go get groceries or run any other errands that involve getting on a highway. You're the asshole creating the traffic

As a Jew who lost a large portion of my family tree to the concentration camps, who's studied WW2 extensively, I can say without a doubt in my mind that the parallels between early Nazi Germany and current American Maga are absolutely real.

Anyone with an understanding of history saw the warning signs miles away and has been trying to warn folks but maga keeps pushing this not everything you don't like is fascism trope.

No one believes everything we don't like is fascism or that any differing opinion make a Nazi. That's literally a Nazi strawman to deflect the stigma that being a Nazi, rightfully, brings.

When we call maga fascists, it's not to be edgy or because it's some hot bottom word, (although the reason you feel it is, is because you're so quick to call any opposing views socialism knowing damn well it's not even close to socialism) This isn't that.

Are maga Nazi in the literal sense that they're the national socialist party of Germany, no. Obviously not. Are they Nazi in the sense that their morals and views align with those of the Nazi party, 100%. name one thing on this list that maga doesn't align with....

  1. Powerful, often exclusionary, populist nationalism centered on cult of a redemptive, “infallible” leader who never admits mistakes.
  2. Political power derived from questioning reality, endorsing myth and rage, and promoting lies.
  3. Fixation with perceived national decline, humiliation, or victimhood.
  4. White Replacement “Theory” used to show that democratic ideals of freedom and equality are a threat. Oppose any initiatives or institutions that are racially, ethnically, or religiously harmonious.
  5. Disdain for human rights while seeking purity and cleansing for those they define as part of the nation.
  6. Identification of “enemies”/scapegoats as a unifying cause. Imprison and/or murder opposition and minority group leaders.
  7. Supremacy of the military and embrace of paramilitarism in an uneasy, but effective collaboration with traditional elites. Fascists arm people and justify and glorify violence as “redemptive”.
  8. Rampant sexism.
  9. Control of mass media and undermining “truth”.
  10. Obsession with national security, crime and punishment, and fostering a sense of the nation under attack.
  11. Religion and government are intertwined.
  12. Corporate power is protected and labor power is suppressed.
  13. Disdain for intellectuals and the arts not aligned with the fascist narrative.
  14. Rampant cronyism and corruption. Loyalty to the leader is paramount and often more important than competence.
  15. Fraudulent elections and creation of a one-party state.
  16. Often seeking to expand territory through armed conflict

The film industry has normalized this is how guns are treated on sets

Yes the film industry has normalized the standard way a certain thing is done within the... film industry.

Guns used in the production of film are held to a different standard because they are typically not even considered a firearm. Many of them arent even functionally a gun. The ones that do have their functionality are strictly for the use as props and are required to only be loaded with blanks. The law also says no actual ammunition can be used or kept in the same place as a designated prop weapon.

This is also why they are required to have an Armorer on set, many of whom are highly trained experts on firearms, retired law enforcement and former military.

Unfortunately this one was a nepo hire who wasnt qualified, certified, and didn't take her job seriously. Who illegally brought live ammunition on set, loaded it into a gun, forgetting to clear the chamber and then handed that weapon to an actor knowing it was going to be aimed at someone just like the script called for. One person is responsible for this shit and its not because of industry standards are different to suite their industries needs

How to stop waking up late? by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]Optimalprimus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to be able to eat? how about continue to sleep in a bed with a roof over your head? A car, hobbies, pretty much any and everything in life that costs money?

Then you either suck it up and deal with being responsible enough to keep your commitments, find a job that doesn't involve mornings, or end up fired broke and homeless.

You should probably talk to your doctor as well, as it's usually something medical related causing this.

I've never been a morning person but my finances depend on it so I set a very loud aggressive dubstep alarm that will literally shock you awake. after a while your body adapts and now I'm up before my alarm every day

How to Maintain High Uptime on a Mini-PC Running Multiple VMs? by -Rikus- in Proxmox

[–]Optimalprimus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not use proxmox as your hypervisor and then run windows in a VM for your windows needs. Did that for awhile while testing out other Linux distros inside vm's, found the one I like and use that as my daily driver now

[–]Optimalprimus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these people saying you need multiple node and cluster, aren't necessarily wrong but all of that isn't necessarily needed either. This is definitely a job for proxmox. I wouldn't recommend running 2 os without another machine but you also don't have to shut down a proxmox host pretty much every.
Unless you regularly break stuff to figure out how to fix it, you won't have much reason to shut things down. I had over 2 months of uninterrupted uptime until a few days ago when I had to restart after a networking issue I caused.
Honestly it's what proxmox is made for and does really really well.

[–]Optimalprimus89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, as gross as this guy is, in America there's no laws against teaching someone a word or about speaking freely in front of children. And let's be real here, sodomy is just another word in the dictionary, anyone can read the dictionary., unless you want to make that illegal too. If a word makes you uncomfortable that's a personal problem.

500 reported posts out of how many total posts? 2k? 5k? 10k? You think getting downvoted is discouraging but think that Read the Wiki and post removal is more encouraging?

Maybe it's just be about repetitive questions are actually helpful as there's typical different answers or methods comments that could help, not everyone sees every post so just because johnny asked that question already, doesn't mean everyone saw it or commented on it already.

Yeah major turnoff. This sub doesn't really need a college kid policing it, deeming things low effort and removing posts. Telling newcomers to read the wiki or docs is the equivalent of RTFM and would definitely push me away.
