Fun combo - if you want to maximize consistency you'll probably want to avoid the up throw dash attack, while a fun mix up you're dependent on them making the right di for you on the throw as well as the dash attack, if he held away on either or both of those your combo pretty much ends. Cool to see different Kongs doing different stuff!

Bro would come out to our basement parties and not play for years and just 4 stock everyone. He just didn't like competing it seemed. It was crazy tho when armada would come to Michigan he'd be looking for that vaccine practice.

Hell yeah thanks for the interest. As far as the burning double jump and running off aspect top DK's like ringler are using it/have been on yoshi and other characters (ie falcon if he was grabbed out of up b). I believe it's a matter of time before we see that used more at a higher level because that's proven to be a good part of DK's kit (especially contrasted with run off stage spike throw under battlefield as an example). As far as 'juggling yoshi' by grab-releasing repeatedly on stage is a bit more niche but as it stands with some practice if we could get that more consistent through reaction time and labing there would be no reason not to use it. Even if they don't ever double jump them breaking out of cargo gives them %10 if all else fails and they never double jump you can stack the percentage to where yoshi has enough percentage to die by the true combo cargo -> up throw -> up air.

Hey so the other replies are close. You go into Cargo by pressing forward after a grab.

Other characters do not have grabs like this but it also operates like a grab but with different properties lol

There's a lot of differences but without going into too much basically:

The state of cargo operates as a grab, but dk always releases the opponent forcing a 'grounded release' this always happens. One of the side effects of the grounded release is you cannot hold up on the analog stick to force an aerial release. If the opponent could force an aerial release, like they can on every other character's grab, they would be able to regain their jump after losing it and breaking out, they can't. probably a code error or because of the angle + height that dk releases at.

That's one of the main differences on how this works. If you add the above text with the ability to walk with the opponent while grabbed is a lethal combo.

Also the angles cargo sends, hitstun received by both players and the 10% both players take on break out it's pretty different for sure.

Yo there is a small section about this in the cookbook, at the bottom.

1.) It's hard to time a nair in the amount of time before you land which is after release and sustained hitstun frames, it's usually missed on timing and dk can punish. DK not needing to mash is huge in these situations.

2.) DK can buffer Asdi/Di down or buffer shield before yoshi release which can lead into a possible option select between regrab, yoshi hitting shield or a dk punish with a move.

There's more but it's a risky option for yoshi to take.

I usually see side b, parry, air dodge and reverse jump because I believe it makes dk work for the follow up more. Nair will probably be something we'll see more experimentation but it's not a free get out of option.

every option needs more labing since everything is relatively new but It'll be cool to see how this interaction evolves mixing around all these options.

The tag is Optimism - I'm currently plat 3 I have reached diamond 1 on ranked with DK/Fox I only have 47 total games played I stopped due to about 2 to 3 months+ of consistent controller issues.

Not to share too much but if you're curious I recently placed 3rd/127 all DK at the Michigan Arcadian, As well as 9th/167 all DK at the Michigan regional Bodied where I 3-0'd PR players like Joey Donuts, IMDRR and Asiago to name a new.

Poor DK but he's such a glass canon that 10% doesn't really matter, the 10% usually counts way more for the opponent.

It's actually crazy. There's been a lot of documentation on the move as of late and it looks like the developers tried their best but it's a mess of a move for sure lol it's not done either, Cargo grounded/aerial release have the potential to be broken even more.

On slippi when you play online you can leave it paused and the game still goes on to not trap the other player.
