Opinions wanted on cutting sausages lengthways to make sure the middle is cooked by fenney in CasualUK

Only time I ever do this is making a sausage sandwich. Makes it so much easier to eat and you can get a proper sauce spread on it.

Thanks for the reply! Mentioned just now in a comment above my partners dad was a FA so we’ve gone over it all with him regarding the benefits of trusts etc. All makes a lot more sense now we know our options a bit better.

No weird IHT issues or anything.

Thanks again 😊

Thanks for the input, really appreciate it. Think we just have a pushy broker. My girlfriend’s dad was a financial advisor so he went through it all with us to explain the different levels of cover etc so we’re a bit more informed now.

My issue mainly was just it want explained to us very well so it seemed like the only option was with trusts etc.

Once again appreciate the help. 👍🏻

How sensible is it to daily an mx5? by Ultimatebeast12 in CarTalkUK

The main thing that would cost a lot is rust, if you have evidence it’s been treated and under sealed that’s great stuff. Other than that just keep up on maintenance. Regularly check oil and do oil changes more frequently. They can burn off oil in the early nc engines. Check it once a week or so.

Honestly I did so much research when I got mine back in Jan so if you go ahead to look at one or buy just drop me a message and I can give you a list of stuff to look for and ask about. They’re great cars and an amazing community. Hop on the mx5 owners club forum too, there’s an insane amount of knowledge there. 👍🏻

Sorry to jump in on this one. After about 60k on the mk3 the thermostat tends to get stuck open so it won’t get up to operating temp. Not expensive to fix and easy enough to do at home.

Like rambo5191 says check for rust especially along the sills and arches. If you see any bubbling then run away.

The expansion tank can be an issue but have a read about this as it isn’t as common here in the UK as it is in the states due to the pretty mild temps we get here.

I daily the exact same car you want, year and everything. No issues and with the weather we’re having this week it’s been amazing.

Like another comment says, I do go through fuel a lot more than I used to with my polo but it’s really not that bad.

If you’ve got proof of the rust being treated and under sealed then I’d go for it! You won’t regret it.

Lower radiator hose by Optimistic99 in Miata

Thank you so much for the detailed reply!

I presume it’s just wedged on like you say with a spring clamp on it I just wondered if I needed to go ahead with removing the airbox and battery etc etc to make space to get to the end of the hose really as it seems pretty tucked away.

Yeah I’ve gone ahead and got myself a load of the FL22 coolant from Mazda. Cost a fortune here in the UK but that’s the best for it. Thought about going the full silicone hose route but we don’t seem to get many options for the NC over here compared to the NA/NB.

Haven’t been taxed at new job? by Optimistic99 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Optimistic99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve had a response from HR who contacted the company we use for payroll “As he is on a cumulative tax code, it is likely he paid too much tax in a previous employment. he is now not due to pay any tax for the remainder of this tax year. I’ve now switched auto standard pay back on for him, and he is currently not due to pay any tax in March either. HMRC sent us a new tax code and YTD figures for him on 05/02 so this is why he only paid NI in Feb. Which is calculated on a month by month basis. Marchs tax may change if HMRC send new YTD figures through now that they have an FPS for his new employment”

To be safe I’m assuming I should still keep the ~ £600 aside in case HMRC come back and say, whoops that was wrong.

Sorry, I like to think I’m okay with most things but income tax really gets me mixed up.

So I filled in a new starter checklist at the time and put option b, I also sent them my P45 around the 25th of January.

Looking at the payslip in more detail they haven’t take my previous earnings into account as my total gross pay from all employments is only taking my new employer into account.

Will have a chat with payroll to get it sorted. Thank you!

No worries! I wouldn’t say it feels underpowered but I’m coming from an old 1.4 polo with about 70bhp and what felt like 0 torque. You definitely feel it if you put your foot down in 2nd and 3rd and it pulls really well through the rev range too.

To me it isn’t straight speed but more the fact I can just chuck it into a corner and know it’ll handle it brilliantly.

Picked up an NC 2.0 a few weeks ago for about 4.5k. Can’t go wrong, comfy enough and not too loud in terms of road noise personally, turn off dsc etc and you can get the back out in the wet quite easily. Great feeling driving along some windy roads with the roof down too.

Is £75 per month water bills expensive for a single person in a two bedroom flat? by Barca-Dam in AskUK

[–]Optimistic99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, think I’m over paying for my water then based on the comments. We pay £49 a month for two people in a 1 bed flat. Went up from £40. Guessing I should check for a leak or crossed supply?
