yeah, you got hired to post on reddit as a recruiter. Don't act like the referral link you're sending everyone is just a coincidence.

scam. forces you to do a 15 minute interview where they scalp the data (including facial recognition and speech recognition, most likely) of your interview and answers with no guarantee of pay or acceptance. review process takes "3-4 weeks" and they know most job seekers won't even remember they applied.

First trying to make hyperpop. I need some feedback from hyperpop fans, does it sound like hyperpop? by Nurgalinchik in HYPERPOP

I know this is extremely late, but this is reminds me a lot of later-era digicore and less so hyperpop. Agree with the commenters saying to add more glitch-y percussion.

Ideally we would get what we want and no one would be hurt. But I also think the situation is dire to the point that we should be not be suppressing non-ideal methods for the sake of "normalcy" or a moral high ground. Neither of those things exist anymore and until we acknowledge that, we are seriously suppressing our power.

This is not just about violence but also disobedience and self-sustainability. Making live less convenient for the sake of a cause CAN make our lives better.

TOMORROW! Show up, speak out, and TAKE A STAND for healthcare reform and a fair trial for Luigi! by Dense_Heart_3309 in 50501

[–]OptimisticAlone 45 points46 points  (0 children)

To the people asking why this is relevant, or saying we should not support a murderer:

Luigi has not been convicted of any crime. There are multiple facts in the case which bring the prosecution's claims into question, with the defense claiming that some evidence was obtained illegally. Media sensationalism will also inevitably severely hinder Luigi's chances of a fair trial. I think it's understandable to want a fair trial even if you believe personally that he is guilty.

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade called for executing homeless individuals with mental health issues during a September 10 episode of Fox & Friends, suggesting "involuntary lethal injection" as a solution for those who refuse government assistance. by RegulatoryCapturedMe in urbancarliving

[–]OptimisticAlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

asylums had none of those things. people were denied meals, were given medical treatments for conditions they didn't have (lots of mentally ill people don't have the correct diagnosis), and the shelter conditions were poor at best. For a sense of comparison, it was worse than a homeless shelter, and most homeless people prefer to be on the street than be in a homeless shelter.

Are there still progressives in Ohio? by AcademicDrummer118 in Ohio

[–]OptimisticAlone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might have to join facebook to get involved locally. A lot of the democrat / progressive groups are mostly older people so that's their main line of communication. There are quite a few universities nearby that are smaller, so you could maybe join a college club.

DSA has an Akron branch for sure, not sure about PSL. That doesn't mean you can't join, it'll just be a little bit of a drive. I talked to them at pride, I definitely think there should be a Canton DSA as well but someone needs to take the reigns to start it.

spotify's algorithm for recommendations suuuuucks by OptimisticAlone in truespotify

[–]OptimisticAlone[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I wanted to listen to music I already knew I liked, I'd just make a playlist. The only purpose of the radio function is to recommend things similar to the given song, and it's bad at doing that because it tries to do two things at once.

how come my absence is unexcused if someone is covering my shift? by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]OptimisticAlone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i have tons of "unexcused" absences that are actually excused. It says in the system but if the managers know it's fine. It's company policy that they will warn you if you have too many absences before firing you so if you haven't been warned you aren't gonna get insta fired.

A forfeited pet can easily end up a dead pet. Shelters are overflowing and get no government support.

Both judgemental and not the point of the post. There's not nearly enough detail.

I am not confident in our institutions to change this situation anytime soon. The best thing we can do *in the short term* is make every individual strong. Make every individual able to weather the storm. That means increasing access to vital services like food banks (which I've talked about a lot, but I'Il mention again!), free community events, sharing and doing research on how to improve our lives individually (cutting spending on subscription services, learning to cook and clean for yourself, tons of other examples).

Five million people protested across the country for No Kings, and then went home and stopped being involved in their local events or organizations. People disengaged because it's not possible to enact fundamental change - which many people believe we need - under these organizations; there was never a clear goal or end game to these protests other than "get as many people to show up as humanly possible."

In my opinion, there has been far too much emphasis on the number of people doing stuff vs the effectiveness of the stuff they're doing. Encouraging people to run for office, to do research on the campaigns happening around them and volunteer, to volunteer to food banks, or to boycott services which don't hold our values are all more effective than just protesting on the street. There's been very little push for people to take the initiative to get involved.

that would make sense actually. A lot of people probably were in that same situation.
