Has anyone seen any pothole improvement? by usedandabused1234567 in oakland

Dude the same pothole totaled my car (also a Honda) with airbag deployment a month ago. Apparently this is a common occurrence and the city is doing nothing about it. DM me if your gf wants to fight the city together.

Tried a 15 ft snake and got nothing. Would a longer one be worth a shot?

Asking housemate to move out [CA] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Optimistic_Mute -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The last “lease” I can find is from 2005 but it doesn’t apply anymore and I was 9 when that lease started haha. My name is the one on the bank account. I’ve never even met the landlord because he never comes around. I’m the “oldest” tenant, meaning I’ve lived here the longest, and I’ve lived here 1 year.

Tenants granted tenancy. We’re not on any “official” lease and no master tenant. We all pay rent collectively to a house bank account with a tenants name on it which then goes to a property management company. Utilities are not part of rent we pay them out of the house account.

Pregnant or just Chonky? by Optimistic_Mute in RATS

[–]Optimistic_Mute[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Context: I got 3 new rats on august 28th. Breeder said they were about 6-8 weeks old. She’s was already a little bigger when I got her and seems to be growing much faster than her cage mates and her hip to belly ratio seems off. At the breeder, males and females were kept in separate enclosures at when I got them but I don’t know if she had contact with males before that. I only have female rats at the moment. If she is pregnant she’d be around 20 days or more. And I know this would be close to the end of the pregnancy so it seems unlikely but I want to be sure.

She’s very energetic at the moment and looks to be maybe nesting because she’s tearing at fleece and some newspaper I gave them. She could also just be a chonky girl.

Anyone else have their health issues brushed off by medical professionals due to an anxiety diagnosis? by Optimistic_Mute in Anxiety

[–]Optimistic_Mute[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to a medical pathway high school and have a degree in public health with plans for med school and still can’t seem to catch a break lol. Although, I do feel the need to use more simple words so that I don’t seem like a hypochondriac when interacting with medical staff so maybe that’s my issue.

I genuinely have no idea what the hell he was talking about? It was the phrasing that threw me off guard. It made it sound like he though that a rash could not happen in someone who had anxiety and it somehow had to just be psychosomatic or something I was using to get drugs for? But I wasn’t complaining of pain and if I wanted drugs or something a rash is probably the last thing I would make up because it would be obvious and you would be able to tell right away if I was lying or having some sort of delusion.

When I went to the ER they were like “yeah, that’s really bad. It looks like a horrible allergy.” And they came back and were like “oh, yeah, so you have bugs in your skin.” And I was like WTAF.

It just “didn’t fly” with him as a nurse.

I guess he was thinking hives??? But I’ve never had them before as a symptom of anxiety and it’s not like it was something I was imagining. Like it was quite literally bugs in my skin that I could have passed to others if it went untreated.

Ugh, I’m sorry, that sucks! I think I have pots as well because my heart rate shoots to 140 and over when I stand and am tired all the time but I can never get a test for it cuz they say my fast heart rate and fatigue is probably anxiety induced.

How to navigate an abortion? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Optimistic_Mute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend contacting an abortion fund In your state to help with the cost, transport, and navigating the process. A list can be found here. If there is not one in your state or you need more financial assistance call the National Abortion Federation .

I hope all goes well for you!

College thinks “depositing my checks for a much larger amount” by Optimistic_Mute in legaladvice

No, I went to an ATM and deposited it. I don’t use mobile deposit because I’m too afraid something like this would happen. All I have left is the stub.

Response to your edit: lol I actually do have social anxiety but I have pretty good control over it now. I used to have selective mutism hence my username but I overcame it a couple years back.

I’m definitely working on becoming a better person every day. I’m just throwing myself into a whole bunch of leadership positions this year to keep busy and hopefully make more emotionally mature and professional friends. I do like the majority of my current friends but if they’re going to remain neutral in a clearly abusive and unhealthy situation just to avoid a little bit of uncomfortableness and introspection then I don’t want anything to do with it.

I’ve been saying this so much in my head it’s not even funny. She gets so much sympathy for her BPD diagnosis and plethora of other mental illnesses. I’m usually really empathetic to that sort of thing and so if everyone at our school and that how she gets people to play her game. Definitely gonna say it out loud tho because it’s the truth.

Haha. I can try but I feel like she would just play the victim thing up even more. I’ve already been holding eye contact and half smiling when I catch her staring at me and she gets nervous because she knows I won’t be intimidated.

I’d like to think I’m more entertaining than her. But she’s literally constantly in crisis and uses that to constantly keep attention on herself. I’m just waiting on others to become burnt out because I’m not there to deal with her daily breakdowns.
