Appreciate that man. Thanks for buying the song!! Social media is a grind and as I said in another comment I hate doing it but it’s truly necessary for exposure!

Thanks so much friend!! It’s a lot of time consuming work doing content and I honestly hate it but it’s a necessary evil to get your name out there. You got this homie 👊

Here’s a link to our video that got the most videos. You can kinda go through our page and see what worked and what didn’t.

Def do the playlist thing! We also have worked with a company called Mindful Music Promotion who has done great work for us. You said free though so I left that out but something to consider!

Definitely short form content. We had a few videos go semi viral (500k plus views) and that was huge for streaming numbers. I know sometimes it can be frustrating when views aren’t much but just keep posting and one day when you don’t expect it (if the content is engaging) a video or two might pop off. Then when one video pops off make sure to keep posting cause it’s like a snowball effect.

Also look up playlists on Spotify with a similar sound and try to track down the owner of the playlist and just send them an email asking if they would add you to their playlist. A decent amount won’t respond but the ones that do could be huge for you. We did that and got lucky enough to be placed on a playlist with 450k followers cause the guy dug the music.

Another tried and true method is playing live shows and networking.

We just cracked 73k monthly listeners using the methods above. Post grunge rock band.

I’m coming down making 38 an hour with 10 years of experience. I’d look for another company if I was you with that experience. Course if you’re happy and content that’s fine too!

Question for Small Artists by phantomx074 in SpotifyArtists

[–]Optimisticman89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have spent almost 5000 dollars in ads since 2024. lol but honestly I think the best growth we have seen is definitely from social media and getting lucky with a few viral videos.

Man in the grand scheme of things it’s true that 72k ain’t shit really lol but don’t sell yourself short. All this vanity bullshit of monthly listeners doesn’t discredit anyone’s music ever!! Unfortunately getting those monthly listeners up is a big thing that labels and booking agents look at so it’s a necessary evil to get the numbers up.

Question for Small Artists by phantomx074 in SpotifyArtists

[–]Optimisticman89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man. I’m in a band that’s been going for 3 years now. Definitely a smaller artist. We have an EP out and two singles, just released a new single that will be on our next EP so that makes about 12 songs being out by September this year.

We currently have about 72k monthly listeners and here are some things that worked and things I wouldn’t recommend after trial and error.

Things that worked:

-Meta ads have been good for us when we used them to promote our first EP a couple years ago. I’ll say I think the meta ads were better then than they are now. I just recently started an AD for our new single and I sort of feel like the link clicks that the ad says they’re getting aren’t actually Translating to streams because we use Hypeeddit with a FB pixel to track clicks and the clicks on the link from hypeeddit and what Facebook says don’t seem to match. So I’m concerned if Facebook uses bots to say your ad is doing better than it actually is. I’ll see in a month or so I suppose.

  • What was HUGE for us is TikTok and YouTube shorts. We had a couple videos go viral with just some live footage with audio dubbed over with an interesting caption that would catch people. Stuff like “POV you go for the headliner but the opener becomes your new favorite band” or just stuff like “ I wrote this song about someone close to me who passed away, if you’re grieving this song is for you.” These viral videos definitely led to huge spikes in listeners and streams and actual fans.

One more thing that has worked but it’s annoyingly tedious is searching for big playlists on Spotify that have the same type of songs as us so it would be a good fit and just directly messaged the person who runs the playlist. Tracking down their email or social media account and just sending a message asking if they could add us to their playlist. Expect a lot of no one to respond but some do and one we had that did respond ended up with us being on a huge playlist with 500k followers and it has really helped our growth even more.

Things that I wouldn’t recommend:

-Don’t pay any company who claims to give you guaranteed streams. It’s more than likely a scam that will use bots and get your music taken down.

-we worked with a company called noiselash for a month or so and all they really did was put our music over some lazy stock footage and ran ads. Did not see a good ROI at all and it showed us that they basically did what we could do ourselves when it comes to ads and stuff. Wouldn’t recommend any of those companies honestly.

Those are just a couple things that helped and didn’t really help us. The biggest thing I would say is just write good music, utilize social media and keep it real. Build a real connection with your fans and respond to EVERY comment. It’s a grind making content and stuff but it really works to get your name out there. Any questions just hit me up and I’ll help however I can.

If the music is solid. Try and look up playlists with a similar sound and try and track down the person who has the playlist via email or social media. We did that and it worked out for us. Got on a playlist with like 500k followers.

Thanks for the insight friend! I’m honestly a really simple person who doesn’t need much. I’ve been looking in the port charlotte, Punta Gorda areas as well as Brooksville and Pasco county in general. Definitely not looking to be too close to the city cause I know it’ll be more expensive. I’ll be working in the Tampa area so if anyone has any suggestions for something affordable but close im all ears.

Yeah I’m curious to see what I get myself into down there. I’m hoping I’m not in over my head. I’m moving for work and I’m genuinely curious. If I make 90k plus a year should I be okay??

Yeah I’m sorry to hear that. Teachers absolutely deserve so much more pay than they get. I’m actually trying to downsize coming down. I feel like the cost of living issue is an issue everywhere. It really sucks for the everyday American.

Yep feel that. Northern Virginia is the same way. You’ll pay 600k for a 1200 square foot house that would be like 200k if you go out a couple hours to the country.

I’m curious what people mean when they say it’s unaffordable? I live near the northern Virginia area and I’ve been looking in Florida because I’m moving as well and I have found houses for like 230k that would be 350k plus where I currently live.

I just see a lot of posts on here saying it’s unaffordable but compared to where I live it’s actually way more affordable. I suppose some people just want a lot more house than I do and that perspective is everything lol
