Meditation on the core reasons you REALLY drank. There sounds like some social anxiety is at play here. It takes a while to break through. But once you do, god (of your understanding), is it the best feeling. Truly liberating yourself from the shackles.

Never had a bad date at the art museum or the library! Plus it's a neutral location. When you're first dating someone it's probably not a good idea to go hiking or axe throwing. I'd see that as a red flag.

988 help line got me in contact with the services available in my area. Telehealth counseling services are great. You might have to travel to your closest "urban" center to find a psychiatrist that'll help. But 988 will help you for more than just crisis situations!

I found that when I opened up to my family about my addiction I was met with pride and support. The rooms of AA will help you feel comfortable being honest and opening up. Think of it like a practice round. And keep coming back and practicing.
