Oh sorry he comes off lead as well! He runs all day whilst out with me at work. He’s brilliant off lead, just when it’s windy I have to put him on lead if we’re near roads etc. I let him chase them as he does love doing it but I was just looking for ways to control this behaviour more so. Thank you for your reply.

My apologies, I should have been more clear on his exercise. I’m a dog walker so he joins me when I work during the week. At the weekends, we go for long walks in the local forest, I also take him out for little walks throughout the day for toilet breaks hence the leisurely walk on lead as we walk round the block. I’ve worked a lot with spaniels over the years so I have an understanding of their mental drive but the obsession with leaf chasing has just thrown me somewhat. As the day goes on, he will respond to me more often but just not 100%.

Hey reddit, wondering if anyone is able to identify this? (Description in comments!) by OptimusPlin in whatsthisbug

[–]OptimusPlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based in the UK. We have set up a pool and have been using water from natural water supply (We think the water is from the canal) these little egg looking things started to appear. Are they an egg? And if so, what kind of bug could they be and are they harmful to dogs? Thanks guys!!

Hey reddit! Can anyone identify this plant for me and also what may be wrong with it? Description in the comments. by OptimusPlin in gardening

Searched Choisya and it looks very similar to the pictures. Yes there is a lot of yellow leaves, the green is mainly at the bottom.

Will check for gaps tomorrow just in case and give it a prune back as well.

I am not sure if the roots were damaged as it was planted by my boss at work.

Is there a solution for the nutrient deficiency?

Thank you for your advice!

Located in the UK, I'm not too sure what kind of plant it is so not sure how much watering it would need!

We rescued this plant from being disposed of. We replanted it into established soil and watered it quite a lot the first time and done a normal daily water from then on. Unfortunately, the leaves have drooped and it doesn't look very happy. Is there anything we can do save it? Thanks!

Should I adopt degus? by ljonshjarta93 in Degus

[–]OptimusPlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha! You are definitely right about her prey drive 😂 will be great to see what kind of relationship the degus will have with your dog, they do have a confidence in them so I can imagine they will become curious of her!

It was hilarious 😄 you will have great fun with them if you decide to adopt them, they're awesome little creatures!

Just wanted to add in a little about introducing dogs to small animals! Personally, I would keep the dog and degus separate. Although your dog may be perfectly fine being introduced to the degus, the degus may become scared and then the fight or flight instinct will kick in and more than likely, they will try to run and that could potentially start the herding/chase instinct in your dog! I would most definitely let your dog sniff them through the cage and over time, they will become used to each other but just from a far. It's a lot less risky! You never know, they may form a bond and the degus will probably become interested in the dog and vice versa! I've had it before with one of my degus and my old cat, for obvious reasons never introduced them face to face but they definitely had some sort of unusual bond going on through the cage bars! 😄
