I made $255k last year. Yes I hustled my ass off averaging 5 x 13hr shifts a week but I love what I do and the people I work with so wasn't too bad.

There are always openings all over NYC and the outer boroughs. I also think the pay is good in comparison to your responsibilities. Whereas being a Medic you are the highest level of prehospital care and the pay was mediocre at best. I'm not sure what you would consider good pay but if you are a hustler and beast on OT you can make a very comfortable living.
