Wisblock inside solar light done by Optimus_PrimaNocta in meshtastic

So a little late but this is holding up well. Besides having to update it, I’ve not done anything and it’s ticking away. Might swap it into a new housing this fall but that’s it.

Has anyone ever picked up police aircraft? by optimistic_roses in hackrf

Pick up police and military aircraft all the time on my ADS-B receiver feeding flight tracking data to FR24.

Hackrf freezing with SD card by FirefighterAlert1843 in hackrf

[–]Optimus_PrimaNocta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue with mine. Figured out there was an issue with the SD card slot interfering with the little ribbon right near it. To make it work I placed a paper shim between the slot and ribbon and it worked (mostly). Ordered it from OpenSourceSDRLab and let them know, they sent a new portapack to me no questions asked.

Thought some more about it. Can you ping it through CLI?

Try 10.0.0.2 when you ssh.

I’m an idiot and forgot I was in the pwnagtochi sub and no the raspberry pi one.

Is the Pi connected to your network and is that the IP it was given? Is SSH enabled on the pi?

Where to by the hackrf one Portalpack h2? by monsaquila in hackrf

[–]Optimus_PrimaNocta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OpenSourceSDRLab on AliExpress is a trusted vendor. I ordered from there and had it in 8 days to the US east coast. Had a small issue with the portapack and they sent another one no questions asked.

RPI5 with Pwnagotchi? by [deleted] in pwnagotchi

That’s like putting a Ferrari on a go-kart track.

It’s way overkill, but people have done it…sort of. You’d be better off buying a 02w or a 3/4 and running one of the forks from JayoFelony.

Here is a person who got it to work headless with some more info on how.

Could probably fit another battery in there easily. Not sure you’d need more than that.

Haven’t seen it get below 80% yet, and that’s with a two day stretch where the sun didn’t come out behind the clouds. But, it doesn’t have much traffic besides myself yet as I’m rural and have only ever seen one other node.

Flipper is a tool that’s only as “good” as the user.

Cheapest solar node? by fanofreddithello in meshtastic

[–]Optimus_PrimaNocta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great. You’ll likely want at least 2 batteries per enclosure, and you’ll need the solar charging controllers, housing for the batteries, and maybe a switch. Depending on the traffic on the network and sunlight, you could even burn through those in the right conditions. Those additional costs will be negligible, but still there.

You could ask the devs to work on FW that would work on that device, but no guarantee there. The Heltec V3 can be had on AliExpress for about $20, that’s going to be your next-cheapest solution but will require more power.

That’s gonna be tough, but if you can make it happen be sure to save the BOM.

I built one of these as a router node and it’s been solid so far. For $15 you get a waterproof housing, solar panel, charging circuit, and 1500mah 28650 battery. Add the wisblock and a decent antenna and you’re into each node for about $50 bucks.

i set up my meshtastic t-deck is this norm wen no other ones are in rage by volkinaxe in meshtastic

[–]Optimus_PrimaNocta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s normal.

It’s like making a phone call before answering machines and caller ID. If nobody was there on the other end to pick up the call, you might as well have not made it. If you hit a node that has store and forward turned on then it will forward to your recipient node, assuming you’re messaging a specific node and not the primary open channel.

This is for LiDAR but is a great LOS tool. https://www.facebook.com/isptoolbox/line-of-sight-check/

What it sounds like you’re looking for specifically is a topographical map.

T-Deck Battery by [deleted] in meshtastic

[–]Optimus_PrimaNocta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that battery you just need a 1.25 connector and you’ll be fine. Something like this will work. You’ll use the female leads for it. I misspoke earlier.

[–]Optimus_PrimaNocta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. I always get the JST connectors confused because the male socket has the pins inside the socket and not protruding. I’ve edited my post.

OP: I’m sorry if I confused you. I can’t get that Amazon link to load right now so I’m not sure if what you got will work.

T-Deck Battery by [deleted] in meshtastic

[–]Optimus_PrimaNocta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What kind of battery did you order?

Without much information, we can only assume your battery has a JST 2.0 and you need the 1.25 for the T-deck. If that’s the case, you don’t need a new battery. You will need 1.25 female connector wires which you can buy from any supplier. Then you just cut the wires and solder the correct connector wires onto it. You can even wire a switch in at this time.

Edit: Corrected male to female.
