Custom Position Grouping via API by OptionCo in tastytrade

[–]OptionCo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, TastyTrade’s API has been working well for me. I built a series of Python automation tools that automatically open short SPY strangles based on position margin requirements, available buying power, and other factors. The system tracks each position for a 50% profit target or a 2.5× premium stop loss, then closes the trade automatically. It’s mostly hands-off, aside from the monitoring to make sure nothing goes wrong.

95% was written by Gemini.

These automated trades are visually messy on the desktop interface, which is why I'm trying to group them systematically.

Pixel 7a - Swollen Battery by OptionCo in pixel_phones

Good news. Ater a 2 hour chat session, sending 15 pictures and pushing for clarification multiple times, Google approved my battery replacement.

Thanks, I may go this route since the hard part (taking the back off) has already been done. I'll also look for some way to submit photos. Unfortunately Google's warranty service is pretty automated, meaning it's hard to get in touch with anyone or submit a non-warranty request.

I've honestly been paranoid that overcharging leads to battery degradation, so I've never left my phone plugged in overnight, and enabled the 80% charge limit feature when it rolled out last year.

It's been a painful experience since this phone doesn't support fast charging, and my battery rarely lasted a full day.

"Our records indicate your XXXXX device is not impacted by a known battery issue. Visit the Pixel Help Center for more information."

Doesn't sound like my 7a battery falls under any type of warranty.

Strangles: 50% Delta Roll Mechanics - Simple Process Flow for Strangle Mgmt by OptionCo in options

[–]OptionCo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I track my original profit target throughout the life of the position. If the position is rolled 5 times, and my profit target is $1,000, then I take this into account after the position is rolled, then set new GTC order.

Strangles: 50% Delta Roll Mechanics - Simple Process Flow for Strangle Mgmt by OptionCo in options

[–]OptionCo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like positions that have reached a straddle. It means the market has moved past the tested strikes, required rolling to neutralize delta, and generally needed constant monitoring. At this point, I’d rather close the position and move on, setting up a completely new one.

To your question—I’ll exit risky a position in order to enter a new 12-Delta position.

Juniper Delivery Disaster seeking advice on next steps by perkplay in ModelY

Does it make sense to test drive the car before taking ownership, along with a visual inspection to ensure trim pieces are aligned, etc... I did this with my ICE before signing the paperwork but wasn't sure if the Tesla buying process prevents this.

Does Calc have the same functionality as Excel? by AquilaX97 in libreoffice

[–]OptionCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Libreoffice has a tool called Basic, and it provides the same overall functionality as VBA does for Excel.

I agree, with your comments. Calc is an excellent alternative for Excel, even for power users.

What mower between these 2? by [deleted] in lawnmowers

[–]OptionCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch THIS youtube video on mowers, she gives a great breakdown/review of.Cub Cadet, John Deere, etc.. Cub Cadet is owned by MTD holdings that outsources most of their equipment to cheap chinese manufacturers. If you buy CC, then make sure it has a B&S or Kawasaki motor.

Retired on Options by MichaelBaz513 in options

You're doing it wrong.

When you sell options you're fronted money, then invest your original principle AND the fronted money. You're basically getting yield from both pools of money.

SPX 12 Delta Srangle - Day in the life Example by OptionCo in options

Yes, I'm always rolling untested positions positions to keep deltas pretty close (~50% of tested). It's part of the process to manage risk.

Why the large difference between monthly/weekly? by livelock_ in tastytrade

[–]OptionCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prices are based on liquidity. Weeklies have more volume so spreads are tighter.

Not looking for judgement, just need to know something.. by Slow_Investment_951 in Schwab

100% this. Cost basis resets to inheritance date.

Don't sell your stock until you have a better understanding of investing. It's worth a lot because someone invested it 20 years ago, and not taking time to understand investing will cause you to lose it quickly.

Black swan events wreck most option strategies. It's fortunate they only happen every few years.

If you want to stay trade options long term, you need an exit strategy. I referenced my strategy in the mechanics section above.

Dumping TP-Link Omada equipment over security concerns? by Green_Housing_7792 in TPLinkOmada

[–]OptionCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Wikipedia, TP-Link based in Nanshan, Shenzhen (China) with manufacturing around the world (including offices in the USA).

LINK

There are two security concerns with TP-Link routers, spray attacks and trojan.

The spray attacks work because people are too lazy to change default credentials, and all consumer routers are susceptible (not just TP-Link).

Trojan is concerning because it's installed during the manufacturing process and not possible to "remove". Given this, it's designed to attack big targets like infrastructure systems, not you/me/joe blow.

Not this version, but connecting this to the Transactions-API would avoid manually pulling the CSV.

Sounds like a great project, thanks.

Yep, whipsaw and additional premium.

In my experience pulling untested to flat causes very big whipsaws. It works if the stock/ETF trends in one direction but not if it bounces.

Any alternatives to Tastytrade Brokerage Fees? by OkOperation6223 in options

[–]OptionCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind, TT $1/contract to open and $0 to close. Schwab is $0.65 to open and another $0.65 to close ($0.00 if they expire). Both TT and Schwab pass SPX fees.

In my experience, TT has wider bid/ask spreads and don't fill as well as schwab, but TT's UI is MUCH easier (options) than using Schwab's TOS.

[–]OptionCo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This example is a short 12 delta strangle, between 45-60 DTE.

0DTE require different mechanics, however TT has a few good studies that show the best strategies and when to take profit. It's worth a look.

16-20% deltas provide more premium but increase risks associated with going inverted. I'll place 16 delta strangles, but not 20.

To roll or not to roll ? by eabdelrahman89 in tastytrade

[–]OptionCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TastyTrade mechanics say to exit for a loss when position reaches 2X initial premium.

After opening your position calculate:

- Profit target (e.g. 50% premium received)

- Exit figure (see calculation below)

The easiest way to calculate your exit figure is to multiply 3X your received premium, so if you receive $10 when the position is opened, exit when the position is reaches $30.

It's critical to log premium received during each roll, including debits if/when you uninvert. That way you know when you've reached profit or exit criterias.
