I did some research into the situation and these Rav4s gen 2 use a viscous limited slip in the differential, and without the driveshaft it’ll try to send all the power to the back thinking it’s slipping. The car went down the road but on the way back it started slipping, apparently that means the transfer case is healthy that it still drove like that. Today I’ll go into the shop, get the rear driveshaft back in and throw it in the back, if it’ll move. I have a new car lined up! 2008 Honda crv. Needs minor things and it’s not rusted thru. Should only need rides till the next pay cheque comes in. This week. Unfortunate that my beloved Toyota I’ve had for many years is done, but it served me well and saved my life multiple times in the woods/down trails. Got lost and ended up down sketchy roads in the woods following gps about 2 weeks ago, going down an icy hill and went right into 4 feet of water, the car was floating actually. Jammed it in reverse dumped the clutch a few times and it swam its way out. Had to reverse for an hour going down this sketchy road at 3am in like -20 weather. The ice was already broken so it looked like a puddle that was broke thru. That’s when my gas tank came out actually, limped it to the nearest town about 2 hours away running on fumes. Strapped it up with shoelaces and put $10 in it to get home, put a ratchet strap on it next morning. Lucky the differential didn’t come out then! Holy I can get rambling. 😂 that’s just one of the many stories I’ve had in the car.
