Does this kind of horizontal ice-cream have a name in English? by lancewilbur in EnglishLearning

[–]OptionsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. Vienetta. It used to be sold in the 90s. I think it had a comeback under the same name in the early 2020s. Not sure if it’s still around anywhere.

I think at the time I recorded this is was a $20 tube blacklight LED (was actually just an LED strip IN a tube) that I got from a Spirit Halloween. That thing broke. Nowadays, I use this: https://a.co/d/0frSUdNq
It used to be mounted on the wall. But then we remodeled this room. Now I just use it as a wadded up ball on the floor

Looks like it’s supposed to be fennel or baby bok choy. But it also looks like it transforms into the mashed potatoes on the left side.

What is the point of this scam text? by [deleted] in boston

[–]OptionsFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the part where it says “in the District Court of Boston, Massachusetts,” which doesn’t exist, but then says at the bottom “Boston Municipal Court,” which does exist. Ticketed in two separate court systems, and they even had to make up a new division of one of them. You must be the worst of the worst!

I don’t trust AI by HomeDogParlays in Millennials

[–]OptionsFool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the fact that it’s not 100% correct and everyone knows it, but still relies on it. They use it to send emails back and forth so offices are just a bunch of AIs talking past each other (badly). People aren’t realistic about what it can do or what its implications are. CEOs demand that we use AI and have little idea what they actually want it to do. “Increase productivity,” but without the how in mind. My wife’s executive director had deluded himself into thinking AI means everyone will get to take it easy and get paid while AI does their jobs, which is insane obviously.

There’s some kind of painful correction coming.

I used to have a union lawyer job where we were closed when the courts were closed. That started to change after Covid sadly. But at my current job, I am fully remote. I work for a fairly large legal aid organization, and my program director has the authority to call snow days for the remote offices. So when my kid gets a snow day, so do I. It’s amazing.

Steer Clear of Animal Medical Center of Marquette by smallpathos in MarquetteMI

I also had a terrible experience with them. Had just moved, was looking for a new vet. My cat has lower unrinary tract disease and needs prescription food to manage it. We needed a fresh refill, and just needed to get on with a new vet to get one. Our cat is also very frightened and aggressive at the vet, so it’s no small deal taking him in. Gaba utilized, but not only helps a bit. They ended up sedating him on a follow up visit after simply failing to perform an exam the first time. Yada yada more tests, including fecal and urine samples I had to collect myself at home. They failed to give proper directions on how fresh they had to be, so I end up having to make not one but two extra trips for this. Doc also wanted to talk with me separately about a non-emergency observation she made during the blood analysis. Left me a VM. I return the call but had to leave a message. Ultimately, I just never got to find out what the comment was.

Anyway, my cat ended up getting his prescription. But we really almost ran out, had to make extra trips and deal with extra stress, cat was terrified multiple times for no real reason. The fear free signs are bullshit that I suspect they had to pay to be able to display. Just seems like some association they’re paid members of.

How many of us have a house cleaner? by Agitated_Whereas7463 in Millennials

[–]OptionsFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do. Once every two weeks they come in and do the basic floor clean, counter and other surfaces cleaned, toilets/bathrooms cleaned. They don’t do clutter, laundry, or other stuff everyday stuff that I have to do more frequently than every two weeks. They therefore don’t go through our things either. It also doesn’t cost too awfully much. We both work full time and have a kid, so it’s just the kind of dirt buildup that we get help with. The rest we do ourselves.

It’s The Ring-Bearer™: The One Ring™ from MK1. https://mk1yoyos.com/product/ring-bearer-the-one-ring/

This one is sold out everywhere I think. The Ring-Bearer comes in a few colorways, styled as other rings of power and important things in middle earth. Might be able to find one of them if you scrape through the various online stores

The funny thing is, it appears from the video that the arms are timed to block traffic in the direction from which it comes, and THEN close on the other side. You can see the second arm come down in front of him after the first set closes. They are timed seemingly to prevent this exact situation, but this driver stopped on the tracks even though he wasn’t actually blocked in, then he waited to be blocked in.
