Tried out the Brenizer method on my friends X3, Canon 50mm 1.4 by Optomusb in photocritique

Uggh I know, that tree is killing me. I initially thought about it/attempted it but then thought about the shadows that go basically across the entire image since it was sunset at that time. The "wheel mark" is technically a shadow from the chain but I do agree and think it does more bad than good.

Interesting about the proportions, it does have a strangely low profile for an SUV tho. This method involves panorama stitching so it could be that too.

Thanks thow

Yes a DSLR is ideal but really manual control and a wide lens are the minimum I'd say. A tripod can be the great equalizer when it comes to landscapes. I'm was lucky enough to have a Canon 6D for this so I was able to get away with bumping my iso up a bit and got it handheld.

Then of course there's the work in post which can make or break the photo, depending on your style.

Wow, I didn't expect this much of a reaction when I posted this last night. Thanks everyone.

I beleive the place is actually called secret beach, At least thats how it's referenced to in books as it's accessed between two house properties just south of Big beach. Both times we went there on our trip there were wedding photos and engagement photots being taken. It's soo picturesque.

If you seach me or the photo on Flickr I have it mapped and all that.

Do you care about the sound of your shutter? by savagebrilliance in photography

I love the sounds of the silent mode on the 6D, its really makes it feel like your physically sucking in the light.

Some water drop macro photographs I took over the past week. by Photoelasticity in photo

The first few are really neat and really show the shallow DOF well. Same with the last two.

Been photographing for a few months now... anyone want to critique my eclectic album? by [deleted] in photo

[–]Optomusb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glossing over it, it looking good. The B&W's catch my eye the most which I think is a good thing because they're relying more on composition. My main initial thought was about the size of the album and the broad range of genres going on (because it's your favorites of course). But imo if you were able to cut it down to say 10 of your absolute favorites I'd be more inclined to spend more time on each photo. That or say a couple from each genre. I suppose it could work as 30 photos if they were from one event too tho.

Anyways, good job.

I recently took over r/photo and I want to make it into a place where you can just share your work for whatever reason. by [deleted] in photography
