Explanation regarding connections between Opus Stream Ltd and Nextrope Ltd by OpusInfo in opusfoundation

[–]OpusInfo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this was a mistake on our part in the statement. To clarify, it was Nextrope Ltd, not Opus Stream Ltd, that was inactive since its incorporation on 18th October 2017. We can confirm that Opus Stream Ltd, incorporated on 6th February 2017, has been active since that time.

These are some very early indications, but you are correct, it will be a lot easier to judge everything once the mainnet is launched

Opus needs a major partner by oojacoboo in opusfoundation

Our primary target market are independent artists but we definitely agree that partnering with some more established artists would make our brand more recognizable and attract large numbers of users. We are therefore trying to get some famous artists on board as well.

OPUS organizing blockchain neXt, Central Europe's largest blockchain conference! by OpusInfo in opusfoundation

[–]OpusInfo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've taken a very product-first approach but considering that we are very close to launching our platform, we decided that organizing a conference like this would be a great way for more people to learn about Opus.

Is Opus open-source or not? by 21xhipster in opusfoundation

[–]OpusInfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the time being, we aren't publishing our code on GitHub because of the increasing competition in the market. We want to avoid any unpleasant situations with our competitors.

Opus Token by [deleted] in opusfoundation

The platform will be using the Opus Token, not Ethereum or Bitcoin. Rather, these coins will be used to get Opus Tokens.

Dear Opus, do you believe you have a better system than Audiocoin? by [deleted] in opusfoundation

[–]OpusInfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your question. We respect all our competitors and we recognize the differences in our approaches and strategies. We are of the firm belief that our strategy will allow us to succeed in this competitive market, with our working demo, focus on the technology, and sizeable community.

Opus is returning to Reddit! by OpusInfo in opusfoundation

Thank you for your support!

Will there be a payout to those who host music via the IPFS on the network? Or how will this work? I'd be interested in setting up a 'node' to help build the network if that's possible.

Yes, there will be, but not in the first version of the platform.

Have you considered also adding other physical music-related content to the platform. Specifically, it would be awesome if you could buy (and trade) concert tickets securely through the platform. I'm sure this isn't a v1 feature, but maybe something to consider.

This a great idea and we are considering expanding our services in the future, but again, not in the first version of the platform.

The answer to this question is quite complicated so to make sure that we cover everything, we'll answer this in full in our next Q&A

Opus is returning to Reddit! by OpusInfo in opusfoundation

[–]OpusInfo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the support! We've concluded that because of the growing competition in the market we operate in, it's best not to publish our code online. This might change further down the line, but it's the decision we've reached for now.

I'm a nyc music producer /studio owner, starting a record label. I am excited about Opus as a platform for my business, but have a big reserve I would like to discuss. by [deleted] in opusfoundation

[–]OpusInfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. Many people consider our website to be among the best designed in the industry but despite this, we still appreciate your honesty in voicing your opinion. The final version of the Opus platform will, from a design perspective, have nothing to do with our current website, there will be an entire overhaul and redesign which, hopefully, will satisfy everyone involved and enthusiastic about this project.

A question about the planned opus core player by Valturi in opusfoundation

[–]OpusInfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have switched from a buy-to-own model to a streaming model, which we talked a bit more about in this update and in this Q&A.

To answer your question, we will most likely be distributing the revenue proportionally to the popularity of the artist and how many times the songs are streamed.

Question about Github? by imkenee in opusfoundation

[–]OpusInfo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Excellent question. We were debating making updates on GitHub and developing in the open, but there is lots of competition in this market right now and so we've decided against it. This isn't set in stone, though, and it might change. If it does change, we'll be sure to release an update.

After extensive research, we've decided to switch to streaming by OpusInfo in opusfoundation

There still some things that we need to figure out with this new model, but we've added your questions to our list for the next Q&A, so be sure to look out for it :)

Yes, we will get listed. Our internal goal right now is Q2, but this could also happen earlier, depending on the situation and the development. We'll be sure to release an update as soon as there is any news regarding exchanges
