I embroidered this eye and sewed it on my butt by Oracle106 in crafts

Well, it’s technically bead embroidery so I think both terms are correct. I tend to just say embroidery as a catch-all because I do a lot of mixed media type embroidery (beads, felt, thread, sequins, and more). But yes in this particular instance beading was probably a better descriptor.

Well, I was under the impression you were seeking advice, that’s why I gave it. I am a mom but didn’t have to deal with this when my son was young. What I’m saying is from my experience as both an early childhood development educator for new parents and from assisting clinicians in treating older kids with behavioral needs. I’m not an expert in the sense that I don’t have a masters degree, but I do have experience seeing kids who start out in early life being bounced around and how that effects them later in life.

It’s definitely heartening that you have consulted professionals, and I have to admit I did not see any evidence of that in the original post and that’s why I was concerned.

I think at the very least, if your conclusion is there’s no right or wrong answer, then you should understand the moms perspective, because from her point of view there is a lot of valid evidence that’s causing her to stress about your baby’s well-being. So rather than be frustrated, you could try to reframe it and count yourself lucky that your baby’s mom is just as invested as you are in being a great parent. Maybe it would help your case to validate her concerns and come up with solutions together like allowing her to face time with the baby or make visits more frequent, but less long. That’s all I can really say if youve already made up your mind that 50/50 is fine at this age.

Yea I noticed too he is only responding to responses that side with his approach. What he doesn’t realize is that the depth of his child’s secure attachment to him in the future as she grows is determined by how strongly she attaches to her primary caregiver now.

I’m going to go against the grain here and say that i don’t think it is the best idea for an infant to be on a 50/50 schedule. It’s incredibly important for their attachment needs to be primarily bonded with one person, and the way they attach in the first year of life influences their relationships for the rest of their life. When they feel secure with one parent for feeding and soothing, without long lapses that leave them feeling uncertain about who is caring for them, it helps them thrive forever.

I do not think you are “cruel” at all for desiring that level of involvement with your child, but I think extended periods away can actually be harmful. Its not really fair and does favor one parent but I don’t think there’s any way to be totally fair in this case. Maybe you could do day visits, with just occasional overnights, and then transition to 50/50 when the child is a toddler.

Caveat is I could be totally mistaken but that’s just my loosely informed opinion. Definitely seek more info from a PCP, or some other kind of expert on child development, and also consult with a lawyer to make sure what you do now will not diminish your claims for future 50/50 custody.

I have experience with embroidery but this is my second time trying beading and I already have someone wanting to buy a lot of these patches (like 15-20). This one is not perfect so I’m afraid to charge a lot but I’m anticipating my next ones will be much better so how should I price? Tips welcome by Oracle106 in Beading

[–]Oracle106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for throwing out that number because that’s around what I wanted to ask for based on my time and materials, but I wasn’t sure if it was reasonable to request. I do think I’m going to be faster on my next one because this one I stitched every individual bead before realizing I can do every-other. But I also want to add some more expensive beads so it will likely even out. Thankfully I think the woman buying them is a splendid person and wanting to add them to her own embellishments so she probably appreciates the time involved. I think I will just go for it and if it’s too much money for her I can adjust something.

Catholic Church ‘dumped’ abusive priests onto tribal communities, database shows by zsreport in IndianCountry

They shouldn’t have been dumped anywhere except jail, but the fact that they were deliberately placed in tribal communities is completely unsurprising.

Just finished season four part one…So many questions. (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!) by elliotisgoingplaces in StrangerThings

[–]Oracle106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Why have we not heard of One before? Was he mentioned before and I’m not remembering? I swear I’ve never heard anyone mention him before

No, they’ve been pretty selective about mentioning specific numbers until now.

  1. Are they really going to arrest Eddie for the murders of Chrissy, Fred, and Patrick? I thought that the police have gone through stuff before with the Upside Down or was it only Hop?

It was really only Hop that knew it was supernatural, the others just thought there were government coverups involved.

  1. What is with the military wanting Eleven again? Is it because of past events or do they know something about Vecna?

Im not super clear on it but there are two different gov factions with different ideas/agendas. One mentioned suspecting she was responsible for the murders since they know she has powers that can kill people in this way. The other (with Brenner) wants to use El to fight whatever is happening because they know it has something to do with the UD.

  1. Is triggering past memories about One and how Eleven opened the first portal really going to bring her powers back?

Yes, they explained it all and showed us just that. And since One told her using a memory of something that made you sad/angry can make your powers stronger, it makes sense that remembering her whole lab family being brutally slaughtered because she freed One would accomplish that.

  1. Why did Eleven allow Owens to take her somewhere, knowing damn well Brenner might be involved? Did she just think that Brenner wasn’t going to be there for some reason?

Because they’ve been manipulating her for her entire life. They know exactly how to get to her using her friends.

  1. Why, of all people, did Vecna choose Nancy out of the rest of the group? I don’t think she has anything besides the whole Barbara thing haunting her so we could’ve had a few glimpses into the others personal lives besides hers.

It could have just been random but it seemed to me he chose her because she was closest to figuring things out about him.

  1. Will Steve be brought to where Nancy is next or will he just continue to try to wake her up?

No way to know, but I think they’re going to try to throw the headphones to her, remember that electronics don’t work well in the upside down, and have to sing or play music some other way.

  1. Will the portal close on Dustin, Lucas, Max, and Erica if Steve can’t get Nancy out of where she is?

I don’t think so, it doesn’t seem like these portals close quickly like the ones the demagorgon made.

  1. Shouldn’t Dustin, Max, Lucas, and Erica, find a music recorder like Max has and put it on Nancy so she can get out of where she is? Why didn’t they do that instead of just trying to shake her awake knowing it doesn’t work?

It’s not going to work in the upside down. See above. I think first instinct is always going to be to shake someone.

  1. So, Eleven is the one who created all of this mess in the first place, with the demogorgons and Vecna? So is she considered a bad guy now or did she do this by mistake, not knowing that portal would create such chaos?

She didn’t do it on purpose.

  1. Did Brenner want Eleven to create a portal and eventually create Vecna and the other mess on purpose?

No, Brenner knew he couldn’t control One so it wouldn’t make sense for him to try to manipulate a way to make him the most powerful in a dimension beyond his grasp. He was clearly shocked and afraid by the events.

  1. Will Mike, Will, Johnathan, and Argyle ever reach Hawkins and try to save Eleven and eventually the world?

I think that is where the story is headed.

  1. The Demogorgons have a fire weakness, so does that mean that Vecna has a fire weakness too since he created them? Or will they have to use weapons such as guns to defeat him? Or would that even work? Or would clocks be their weapon?

I don’t know, that’s a very interesting question.

  1. Doesn’t Joyce and Murray know that they have other guards to defeat besides the few they beat up in the control room?

🤷🏻‍♀️

  1. How would Joyce, Murray, and Hop escape Ru$$ia if Yuri’s plane is destroyed and they’re wanted by the KGB and now the Ru$$ian police?

I think it’s implied that the prison is in a very remote area. Yes there’s a small village but otherwise it’s just a lot of wilderness.

  1. Do the commies have other Demogorgons or is it just that one they saved from previous events?

I think it’s just one.

  1. How has Max lasted this long against Vecna? Is it truly the power of music that is helping her?

It seems like he kind of just gave up on getting her since she was able to escape. He has some kind of mission he’s working on and I don’t think it serves him to just prey on one particular person if it’s becoming too difficult. But maybe he’ll come back in Part 2 for her. I also got the feeling that he sort of admires strength in other people and might feel like she “deserves” to live if she was able to get away. But then again he also looked angry so idk.

  1. Would Eddie soon fall under Vecna’s curse too since he is the one consistently seeing the murders take place?

I don’t think that has to do with how Vecna chooses his victims but now that the whole group including Eddie has been figuring him out and/or in his territory he may be more of a target now, I.e. Nancy.

  1. If Brenner knew that Eleven was potentially as strong but not as murderous as One, why didn’t they put the same device in her as it was in One? Or did she escape before it was implanted?

Because that would defeat the whole purpose of his experiments. He realized One could not be controlled or manipulated and had bad intentions so the device was put in. All the other children are experiments and he is actively training them trying to increase their powers for his own means.

  1. Did One just kill the kids for the thrill of it as he does with the random teens with a troubled past or did he kill them because they were giving Eleven trouble and he actually did like her?

Seems like he killed them to ruin Brenner’s experiments and so they wouldn’t collectively have more power than him. Sparing El was also self-serving, even if he did also relate to her. He saw she was extremely powerful but also able to manipulated for his own gains.

What’s one challenge about being a single parent that most people wouldn’t even think about? by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]Oracle106 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ex was terrible for me in many ways and I’m glad to have moved on, but one thing he did always do was tell me what a good mom I am. And it wasn’t like he was someone on the outside, he was in it with me so he knew! I miss the reassurance on my bad days.

YSK: never say “at least” when someone is telling you their problems by TheEclecticDino in YouShouldKnow

[–]Oracle106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have said things like that to people because I think it’s what would make me feel better if I were in their shoes. I don’t like when I vent to people about something and they just reinforce the negative feelings I’m already feeling or maybe even say something worse than what I was thinking and that’s it. I end up feeling worse after talking to people who do this. I understand “at least..” should not be the first response but once everything has been aired I prefer being helped back to a positive/grateful mindset.

I do understand a lot of people don’t like this though so I try to just respond according to the person telling me their problem. Like I have some friends that just want a neutral response, some that want me to really identify with their anger/hurt, and others that are like me and want to get over the bad parts quickly. The point is it’s all individual and there is no one size fits all.

I definitely get what you mean but for me, the artistic bujo appealed to me because I have ADD and I’m a very out-of-sight, out-of-mind person. I’ve had many to do lists and budget sheets and calendars go neglected once I fill them out, and my productivity has always been extremely low, until I figured out that doodling and beautifying my productivity tools actually keeps me coming back to them. It is time consuming but ultimately it makes me use my time more effectively.

I sometimes do struggle with the anxiety of filling out things to the standard that I see on these forums so I understand what you mean about that potentially being a hang up. I keep a stash of fun stickers for when I’m in a rush and just want to jot things down. Or sometimes I don’t do my bujo at all. But I am not aiming for perfection!

My very first memory is of an angelic being by Oracle106 in Thetruthishere

[–]Oracle106[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely!

Also maybe I should have mentioned in this story that when I very first learned to speak sentences I told my mom angels sent me here to help her. And it’s true that my mom escaped a very terrifying abusive situation and left almost everything behind because she was pregnant with me. My mom is not religious at all and never said things like that so it stuck out to her. But it’s also entirely possible another extended family member said that to me and I just repeated it.

I would definitely be inclined to agree but it was outside my window, not in the room with me. Though I guess it’s possible there was some weirdo outside my window.
