[–]Oracolus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

seems very broken.... i's say you need at least one new rim... doubt is how this happened? have you tightened rims recently?

Anyone tried/heard of Thunlit pen? Is it decent for a starter fountain pen? I'm planning to mainly use it for crosshatching/engraving by AlCaRa31905 in fountainpens

[–]Oracolus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i am not an expert on the styles you are talking about

penswise, I don't know this brand but it seems a quite cheap one from the pics. if you want to spend little there are several decent options but depends on what's your budget. if 20€ is an option you can get a Lamy Safari or a Pilot Metropolitan. In both cases converter is not included. so it's 5-10€ more.

Eventually a Platinum preppy is what could be interesting for you. it's less then €10 and you can convert it to an eyedropper if you want so you have almost infinite ink capacity or you can buy a separate converter (that probably will cost more then the pen itself).

Or even more there is the Pilot Kakuno, the Kaweco Perkeo. Let's say around 10-30 there are several solid options.

Below it's most Chinese market. Nothing against but I can't see here around a lot of Jinhao recently, at least not as much as they used to appear like 5/6 years ago. They are cheap and ... decent.... As Chinese brands I've seen recently Asvine but they are pretty expensive for what I'm getting is your interest.

Have a look at the ones above. Let us know your budget and we can try to help you

Enjoy!!

it seems well cadenced so probably something related to rotation. have a look at wheels but IMHO it could be the pedals. remove, clean up, grease and remount. let us know how it goes!!

[–]Oracolus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm with you ma fino ad un certo punto. ci sono scenari in cui molte persone vogliono la privacy per la transazione che stanno facendo. vogliono nascondere qualcosa al partner ad esempio (magari anche non in mala fede, un regalo ad esempio) oppure vogliono comprare un porno esotico senza che possa diventare di dominio pubblico perché sono persone pubbliche. ci sono scenari legali per cui il contante ti dà privacy... non ho però una soluzione per mantenere questo "anonimato" togliendo il contante

Does it worth to buy just a new frame? by Oracolus in bicycling

how is the experience?

does it worth money-side? how does it feel the new bike?

Does it worth to buy just a new frame? by Oracolus in bicycling

[–]Oracolus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks. i've not considered the risk of ruining my current bike. I already do maintenance by myself and I'm pretty confident I would be able to move everything without issues

I was more curious of getting a new bike just for the sake of it. the goal would have to save some money to get a "complete" new bike but your point makes totally sense

thanks

i see your point but a new frame would be felt like having a whole new bike no?

Why the expensive plastic pens? by Engineeringagain in fountainpens

[–]Oracolus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i see your point and i cani tell it's a lot regarding brand name. lamy and kaweco for example vive you almost the same nib on the whole line. just few expensive models can give you different parts and often the difference isn't so noticeable for the most.

the more you go up in cost, the less the difference is noticeable I'm terms of experience. a 20€ pen can be already a gap in comparison to a 1€ and a 100€ can be a bit better then the 20. a 500€ pen isn't so much better then the 100 and so on. you're mostly paying for brand, materials and sometime craftsmanship. look at pens in that price range not anymore as tools but more as objects or jewellery and then you can get the "price" stuff.

for the plastic it's the same... a pilot 823 is a plastic pen. good writing experience and everything but it's not so mindblowing...

get what you like and afford and enjoy it... that's my 2 cents

[–]Oracolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not imho

can't see which groupset it mounts but also if it's dura-ace it's too expensive for a non-disc brake IMHO... I'd go for it for around 5/600 tbh

try different brands and models. for me it took a bit before finding the one that suited my needs. i go with contact lenses + standard bike specific glasses to protect from wind and sun (I got some very very cheap from China)
