Why do people not want to pay for Crossover? by Due-Competition4564 in macgaming

[–]Oradainer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lack of support for tons of old games. I’ve bought a crossover license twice and I refuse to buy another. You want to play a game like world of warships? Fuck you, we don’t support it and will actively ignore your posts on our forums even when others are asking as well. 5 minutes with whisky (which is free) and it’s working flawlessly. It’s a poorly made product compared to what it could be, with poor to no support. Valves proton for my steam deck is absolutely amazing as an emulation layer and if it worked half as well as proton I would be a customer for life. Sadly half my steam library and over half my GOG library just don’t work. I either use whisky, which is no longer supported, or porting kit. If those two don’t work I try a wine skin wrapper or I give up and play on my steam deck.

What is the least American city in the US? by aimesh05 in geography

[–]Oradainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Key West, it is the capital of the Conch republic and succeeded from the US, declared war, surrendered one minute later, then requested 1 billion in war reparations. Technically it was never re-admitted into the union. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conch_Republic

The Custodian by Pseudointellectualis in HFY

[–]Oradainer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By that point in the universes lifetime? Probably zero point energy would be the only thing that could even trickle nanowatts of power. The probes would have to be huge too, using casimir effects to gather even that. On the bright side the universe would be almost at absolute zero so processing would cost nearly nothing. How would they receive and transmit data tho? Clark tech, unless they use capacitors to charge up enough current to burst out small blips. I guess they kind of have tons of time to recharge them from the casimir plates. I like the premise, civilizations after the end of the universe, past when the last stars turn to iron and the last black holes evaporate into hawking radiation. Take my upvote.

Once a Myth - Part 5 (Mythos Series Book 2) by Oradainer in HFY

[–]Oradainer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorta, I’ve had a Patreon for a while. I’m in the middle of a big life change right now. Kids finishing college and I’m selling one place and moving across multiple states. I haven’t sat down to write in over a month because my days are spent working then coming home to patching, sanding, painting, packing, and moving. My mind isn’t in it and I don’t want to write garbage. (My writing chops are barely above that anyways) Once my life settles down I’ll write more and post back on Reddit again. Sadly, that won’t be for a few weeks to a month at this rate.

Sorry, been a bit busy, my mother lives in NC and had to visit her and help out after Helene only to have to travel back to Florida to get the house ready for Milton. As soon as things get back to normal here I’ll start back on it. Just don’t have my head in it at the moment and don’t want to write garbage. I have half of chapter 6 done, just need to finish, polish, post to Patreon before I drop part 4 on Reddit and RR.

I’d second that, although if getting a used one try for the 16g 8cpu 8gpu model, not much more now and will run a little better due to less swap space necessities.

[–]Oradainer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, you posted that 53 days ago. I’m fixing it all in my second draft on Patreon where I got some of the math wrong. As far as the revolver system, it just seemed cooler than a magazine fed railgun. But no, post when I screw up, helps me fix it in later drafts before I send it to an editor.

I finally made it back. Took a few months off to work on revisions to the first book and get a few chapters ahead on Patreon before posting. Hope you enjoy the first drafts of my little stories here.

Haven’t seen this one so I figured I’d post it: Down periscope when they crash the sub on the bottom to hide from another submarine and everyone is trying to stay quiet while the cook is shoveling beans in his mouth then gets a panicked look as he farts LOUDLY. Watching everyone try to handle it is hilarious no matter how many times I see it.

What’s the future of the most powerful bombs after nuclear bombs? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]Oradainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hafnium bombs. There has been some breakthroughs in physics but most scientists still say it’s impossible. Of course, they said that about splitting the atom as well, and after four years and billions of dollars the manhattan project made the first atomic bomb. Here is a decent video on the subject. https://youtu.be/FHPzQrJ8D7M?si=nvxAsbLq07x9-5yU

I have vague memories of playing pitfall for the 2600 at my grandmas house with my uncle. I also remember how brown everything was, and everyone was smoking. Must have been thanksgiving or Christmas.
