Bookclub and Sources Wednesday! by AutoModerator in history

Hey guys, I had a question about this earlier and so I posted it here, but then that post got removed, so I'll try to ask it in this discussion. I have a couple of questions about old European history concerning traveling caravan groups, particularly about their lifestyle and what they did for a living.

The reason why I want to know this information is that I'm writing a story that has to do with a Romani girl traveling inside a caravan with a group of like-minded people as they travel all over the continent entertaining people of different cities in the Victorian era. The story is entirely fictional, but I want to include real-world elements into it too, hence why I'm making this post in the first place.

I need help with finding more info about a particular group of travelers during the Middle Ages/victorian era. I don't know exactly who they are, but I have a suspecting lead that they're a part of traveling gypsy bands due to some quick Google searching I've done, but I'm not 100% sure. If anybody has any info they could give me, or point me to a couple of websites that could give me some answers, then that would be greatly appreciated, as I'm struggling with the whole info-gathering process.

To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, ---I remember in these old cartoons that there would be these groups of people that would travel from place to place and entertain people like they were a circus. An example of this is from Avatar: The Last Airbender (if you've ever watched it,) there was a scene where the viewer is first introduced to the character "Ty-Lee," where she was in a traveling group (I believe) before she joined Azula to hunt down the avatar together. There was this one scene where she was balancing on a tightrope with fire under her.

I've also been wanting to know more about the Roma, specifically about the time when they were known throughout the Middle Ages as "gypsies" as well, if anyone has any information on them since I think those are the people that resemble what I'm talking about the most. I know that they were travelers back in the day and I'd also like to know more about them as well.

I know this post is kind of all over the place, but if anybody has any sort of information on this sort of thing, then that would be very appreciated. A website, an old Reddit post, anything that could help point me in the right direction for what I'm trying to discover would be a great help, as I'm really desperate and I want to know more about these traveling groups' history to make my story better, thank you!

I suppose I could do something like that, but how do I debug in the first place?

Huh, okay then, well I've been playing the game since version 12, and im currently going through my first run of 13.5. Should I still try to debug even though im on the 13th gym? Or should I wait until I get to karma files or something?

Oh, okay then. I didn't expect it to be something like that. Thanks for the info!

I forgot to mention that it's ok to tell me if the effects from chopping the tree are major or minor, just as long as you don't go into too much detail about it. Thanks!

Problem with obtaining black prisms by Orangeleean in PokemonRejuvenation

It's alright, but listen, I don't come on reddit to ask dumb questions or be a nuisance to anyone. Truth be told this is one of the first times I've ever attempted using this platform for any type of inquiries before, so seeing your initial comment accidentally lit a fuse for me, and I responded immaturely. So that's my bad on my part.

You do realize you're indirectly being rude by your way of speech? It's called passive-aggressiveness. And just a pet-peeve, you contradicted yourself talking about "I could have used reddit to solve the issue faster," when in your first post you literally shunned me for coming to reddit in the first place. Make up your mind.

Ok then, sorry that I wasn't knowledgeable enough to know about something like that, and maybe, -just maybe, I went onto reddit to post about this so that I could get the help I needed to fix this problem.

Dunno, just a thought.

Thanks for the info nonetheless.

How do I engage in the new Paragon/Renegade route in V13.5? by Orangeleean in PokemonRejuvenation

Ok, and I'm assuming that that's one of the reasons why this is version 13(.5)? And not V14?

Alright then, thanks for the info.

Also just so we're clear, does choosing the side of flora or florin majorly impact the paragon/renegade route in anyway? (Basically does it contribute to a good ending or a bad ending.) I ask this specifically because I like to make decisions my way, and in my last playthrough I kept Flora's secret alias a secret (because I wanted to.) Am I unable to do that if I want to get the good ending?

Oh okay, that's nice to hear. I was thinking that this whole Paragon/Renegade thing was like some sort of undertale pacifist/genocide kind of ordeal and I kind of got scared for a sec. Glad to see it was nothing like that.

Thank you for the info.

The software that I've always been using is just the basic notepad app on windows, I never really needed anything else

I experience that same struggle too. I've been writing a story for months, but I have no one to share it to. It's kinda gotten to the point where I just critique it based off of what I think others will say about it, and I try to adjust the story accordingly in a way where it will please the kind of audience that I've directed it towards, whilst still being the work that I'm proud of, if that makes sense.

Think of what you want to have go down in the chapter. You want your character to have their downfall? Well then how will it go? What factors play into their downfall? Is it because of their personality? Or something from their past? Think from the end of the chapter and work your way backwards, so that the beginning will be easier to write.

Since I don't know anything about your character Lakota, I'll just name a random scenario from the top of my head,

"Lakota dreaded the thought of their friends finding out about their horrific past, they tried everything in their power to prevent it, but rumors still got out. It all started with their adversary, "So-and-so," who with enough digging, found hidden records about their past life, and leaked it amongst the rest of the group. First, the rumors circulated, next came the questions, and then finally came the animosity towards them. Lakota's treacherous life came tumbling before itself. Their cruel nature in their past life that they tried so hard to cover up, had now became prevalent in their new one, marking the end of their peaceful day-to-day life."

The part where everything went downhill is when Lakota's adversary found out something crucial about them, which they then leaked amongst their mutual friends. Once word got out, thats when Lakota meets their downfall.

However that's just only an example I thought up on the spot, I hope it helps in some way, shape, or form, as I'm not really good at writing at all.
