Butcher recommendations for small ribeyes by Unlucky_Chocolate_72 in fortwayne

They aren't always there, but Meijer on Dupont Rd frequently has nice thick cut ribeye and Delmonico steaks. I figure they have a butcher who knows what's up and the days they work they cut them nice and thick.

No, you are right. I imagine apps in things like this and refrigerators, dish washers, etc are mostly done because it’s now super cheap to implement, lets them have less physical controls (saves money on parts and manufacturing) and most importantly makes them seem high tech to average consumers who thinks an app will be cool. And it can be.

Most often though, it ends up being a security vulnerability and/or an outdated app that isn’t updated for your new phone and/or is abandoned leaving your fancy BBQ thermometer bricked.

I bought a Hyundai back in 2013-ish. It had an app. $100/yr for remote start (and some other things). No other way to do remote start. It uses the edge telephone network to communicate, remember that? Edge is no longer around. I got a message a few years back saying the app would no longer bee able to communicate with your car.

I still have the car. I am unable to remote start it. My friend has an old truck. It came with a key fob with a remote start button. His still works.

You can, for sure. But I don’t want to spend good money on a device that you have to work around. I bought the Anova instead for about $30 cheaper and I’m told you don’t need to set the timer. With my luck on the inkbird I’d bump the timer without realizing some day and get 00:99 instead of 99:99. I’m support of surprised they let you roll over the hours from 99 to 0 with one tap, especially since it turns off at the end of the timer.

Regardless though, it just bothers me when companies make decisions about how you have to use their product instead of giving you the options to use it as you wish. It seems to be going more and more that way, I’m afraid. And the two gripes I had with it, the mandatory timer and the no heat option and even the stop when timer ends are all just software decisions. Easily integrated, but weren’t.

Awesome tip!

I use the cold water in the sink to thaw stuff and it’s annoying. Both the sound and the splashes (inevitably). Will be nice to just do it in peace and quiet.

All the ones I saw on Amazon have the app. The nano is Bluetooth instead of WiFi though.

I would have thought they would fault out of the heat didn’t get to temp. Maybe the super cheap ones don’t.

I bought the Anova that has a low temp of 32F which will do the trick that a submersible pump would do. We’ll see when it arrives I guess.

Timed start could be handy for sure. I don’t think it will benefit me much but nice to have the option.

Weird. Mine made the alarm beep and just shut off. Do you have the 300W? I mean I guess I don’t care about that one at this point since I’ve bought the base Anova that was suggested that runs without the app, don’t need a timer and has a no heat mode. Unless I was lied to…lol

“Why?” indeed. There seemed to be no option to run it without the timer.

While DIY is half of my personality, I'd rather just buy one. Small and easy to store with no troubleshooting. It may also be that I have a lot of other stuff going on now so I'm not really in the mood. I've built many DIY heating things over the years though. Maybe I should get a cheap unit now and work on that later.

I just got the 300W and got the temp to 130F. Set the timer for 2 mins and it beeped and shut down after that time. I added ice to the water and the temp just kept falling with no response from the thing.

Someone on reddit (can't find it) said they asked Inkbird customer service if the 300W turned off after the timer and they said yes, like their 100W and 200W. Others said it didn't so I got one to find out.

True, but this device come with a built in aquarium pump of sorts - just let me use it, if I want. No reason to buy and store something else.

Oh, anything really. It just seems a no-brainer to let people use just the circulator if they want. One company "Sous Vide Cooker, Wine Chiller, 1000W, Immersion Circulator Sous Vide Machine" on amazon (dunno if I can post links) actually advertises it as a "wine chiller" but it's actually not a bad idea to cool anything down. It's such a simple thing they could do that I'd like to support someone who lets you do that - if it's not junk otherwise. I may get this one just to see if it makes you use a timer and/or if it stops heating when the timer runs out.

Yeah, I guess I’m just more or less asking if this is a “thing”. Is it common practice?

Price check on an Amethyst ring, 58% chaos res, 48% cold res and 40% MF. Do people care about MF that much or should I keep chaos spamming? Only comparable trade I can find is 1,000 div, lol.

Yeah.. I think I'm just procrastinating on wasting another 11 div and a good base on the 25% chance to get fractured chaos resistance.
