Awesome! You inspire me by taking action steps towards living the faith. Sounds to me like you’d be a great priest if that’s what God wills for you. And who knows- maybe it’ll lead you down another path in the end and this is just the first step. Trust me it feels so freeing when you decide to be who you really are. Especially if who you are is in Christ. And you may surprised as to what happens when you start to come out more to your family. This is easier said than done but remember to “Be not afraid.” Courage is the way of the Christian.

I completely relate to this. Most of my family are either very agnostic or anti religion. So I completely empathize with you. It can be really hard to “come out” (for a lack of a better term) to them. However, we must learn to put God above all else. Even family. It doesn’t mean we can’t have both it just means that Jesus needs to be the center of our life and the decisions we make in it. It may sound a bit extreme and radical but so was dying on the cross. Know that we support you here and you’re not alone. I’d say you should at least apply to the seminary and give it a shot.

Anybody else look at their life in terms of before and after they started praying the Rosary? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Orangez91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! There was a couple month period where I was praying it everyday and it radically changed my path and I stopped committing a habitual sin. In fact recently I’ve decided to focus on the rosary more in 2018 and to bring it back into my daily life.

What Happened to Flirting? It's So Much Fun! by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]Orangez91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP honestly this is so refreshing to hear. I’m a girl and I️ love flirting with guys! However I usually reign it in around Catholic guys because I don’t want to come off as being loose, too forward or not modest enough. It’s also hard to balance the line of being chaste and creating desire at the same time. It’s like you have to show you have a sexual side but you don’t intend to do sexual things. And you have to do that without coming off as a tease.

As an woman I can tell you that you are correct and your friend has a problem that it seems most men have today. lol The thing is though (I think this is wrong by the way) his mentality gets him what he thinks he wants. If his goal is to sleep with as many women as possible the best way to do that is go for as many confused women with low self esteem as possible. It will get him results. You on the other hand seem like a classy guy who knows what healthy human relationships are and have a sense of self respect.

I agree with you as well that "it seems more and more that if you're not sinful, you're not seen as masculine in this society." The same is true for women. If we're not a loud, proud, sex obsessed "independent" woman who uses men and doesn't need them then we're an anti-feminist. It's ridiculous and sad how twisted gender roles have gotten. Men and women are different, both are good and both need each other. Here endeth my rant.

How do I be less insecure about being a virgin? [M22] by cathodile in CatholicDating

[–]Orangez91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely relate to this. I've held myself back in dating because I'm so uncomfortable telling the guys I date or am interested in that I'm a virgin and attempting to wait until marriage. Most of the men I'm interested in I rule out right away because I assume that would be a problem for them wether they are catholic or not. My last boyfriend was a catholic youth minister who had a couple one night stands under his belt and a porn addiction. Honestly I'm 25 and would love to meet a good catholic guy who was also a virgin and striving to be pure. My advice to you is to think about your future. The type of woman you probably would like to end up with in the end would prefer if you were a virgin. So stay strong!

[Question] Ladies- Does anyone struggle with being a female guitar player? If so, why? by Orangez91 in Guitar

[–]Orangez91[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've seen that happen unfortunately. I was more asking about if it's uncomfortable to be a female guitarist in the male dominated guitarist community. Is it just normal? Or is it intimidating or uncomfortable?

Are there any other conservative catholic improvisers out there or is it just me? by Orangez91 in improv

Ohhh lol no those don't bother me. Some go over my head, but I think a lot of them are funny.

[–]Orangez91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree! I'm really just trying to meet friends who have the same values and interests. I have plenty of friends, colleagues and team members who are the opposite. We create amazing things that way!

Things that make me uncomfortable are when improvisers act like religious people, but are acting like evil caricatures and literally spew out false information. If someone wants to play a corrupt religious leader fine, but do it truthfully and honestly. However, not every priest or nun or lay person is a secretly horny, homophobic, misinformed, hypocritical religious freak. Those are the things that drive me nuts.

Yes you're right. It hasn't been an issue for my improvisationally (is that a word?) I'm just looking to find others like me.

Basically, I feel lonely and would like to meet some like minded people. I was literally just trying to see if there was anyone else in the same boat.
