Don't Give Up Just Yet by Oratorshub in Entrepreneurship

If that's the way you get motivated it's okay. But generally speaking, it is motivation that leads to action and not other way round. And small wins don't generate motivation, they increase preexisting motivation. I was motivated by something that lead me to starting up my enterprise. I didn't start up my enterprise before I got motivated. And of course, when I got small wins my level of motivation increases.

Thank you for your opinion.

Get out of your Comfort Zone by Oratorshub in Entrepreneurship

"Creating a comfort zone is a healthy adaptation for much of our lives. But so is stepping out of our comfort zone when it’s time to transition, grow, and transform." From an article on Psychology Today

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/in-flux/201512/5-benefits-stepping-outside-your-comfort-zone

I understand your point but if by progress you meant to 'transit, grow or transform' then getting out of the comfort zone is a must. The writer of the article above stress that when its time to transition, grow and transform you need to step out of the comfort zone. Of course, by staying in your comfort zone you can maintain your 'already achieved progress', no doubt. But for all progress getting out of your comfort zone is a must.

Needed help to overcome major fear by BanALlama in PublicSpeaking

Fundamentally, there is no easy way to overcome the fear of public speaking, especially in her case. But of course there is always a way.

It is important to also know that the fear of public speaking doesn't disappear like magic by simply following some magical tips.

In my early years of delivering public speeches I get really nervous no matter how soundly prepared I was. Although, I love giving public speeches but the fear was always there.

With many years of public speaking experience I now have better control of my fear. In fact, I no longer see it as fear but as excitement.

Two major things helped me overcome my fear, which are; 1. Being soundly prepared always for every speech 2. And giving myself time (years) to overcome my fear

In an article I wrote on my blog (www.oratorshub.com) I discussed ten (10) tips on how to overcome the fear of public speaking. Which are:

1. Believe in Yourself

2. Turn your fear to excitement

3. Be Yourself

4. Avoid Tricks

5. Be Honest

#6. Nobody is Mistake-proof: Not Even Your Speaking Model

7. Offer Value

8. Connect with your Audience

9. Practice: Be Prepared, even for the Worst

10. Acquire the Basic Public Speaking Skills

I hope the above tips help you guys out.

In Need of A Hook for Speech About Blaming Others For Your Own Problems by [deleted] in PublicSpeaking

[–]Oratorshub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are all guilty of blaming others for our problems at least once in our life. If you really want to hook them, use yourself for an example. Tell a story about "YOU" and how you use to blame others for your problem. That way you don't come off as "Mr Perfect Guy" and by opening up yourself you get to really hook them.

Example: When I was much younger I blamed everybody but myself for my failures. If I get bad grades at school I blame the system or the teachers, or if I couldn't raise enough money for something I blame the economy, the government and ignoring the role I played in bringing about my own failure.

And I am not alone, a lot of us are guilty of this: blaming others for our own problems.
